Ute Creek Golf Course
Played On 09/07/2023Must play course.
If you are in the area you really should put this course on your list to play. I drove 45 minutes from Denver and it was worth it. Course conditions were very good. Greens were nice and rolled well. This course has a lot of bunkers. I was fortunate to only land in one. Mixed reviews from my playing partners about the bunker condition, but the starter did warn us about them. The more aggressive you play, the more bunkers you'll contend with. Couse knowledge really helps here and I was lucky to play most of the round with a local. Second shot target golf. Most fairways are generous. This is links style course. Wind is a facto
Heather Ridge Golf Course
Played On 09/06/2023Second time, still good.
This course is fun to play. This is a "target golf" type of course. It's not a long course but the greens run fast and have a good amount of pitch to them. You really want to be below the hole on this course. Some long par 3's. Course knowledge helps as there are some blind shots that have trouble. A range finder is a must for your first time.
Mark9002439, thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Heather Ridge Golf Course.
Apache Wells Country Club
Played On 09/05/2023Nice course
I play this course several times a year. It is my wife's favorite course. The course is usually in very good shape. Greens roll nicely, fairways and rough are in good to very good shape. This is not a long course or very challenging. That said, you still have to hit the shots and there are some challenges. I think scratch golfers would be bored with this track but average golfers will find it fun.
Painted Mountain Golf Club
Played On 08/20/2023Needs a lot of help
I hadn't played this course in several weeks. I looked at the reviews and I don't know what course they were playing but it wasn't this one. The tee boxes are fair at best, most are very unlevel. There were several holes with temporary tees. The fairways have a lot of areas without grass or are patchy. The greens were slow and soft, but good. This is a $30 course not a $50 course.
Resort at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort
Played On 11/05/2022Not what the pictures show
First impressions when you arrive are average. After you drop your clubs off and walk around to the back of the building is when things go downhill. Quite dumpy looking. The range is terrible with people trying to find some grass to hit off of.
The course itself is ok but not $100 ok. The views from the 5th hole on are pretty nice. the course is only in average condition. We teed off at 11:30 and by 3:30 we still had 4 holes to play. At least an hour more. We left at 14. It was backed up and everyone was waiting.
Service on the course is not very good either. We saw the cart girl on the first hole and told her we'd catch her the next time around. We never saw her again. 4 hours out there golfing and we never saw her. Her loss, we were hungry and thirsty.
Apache Wells Country Club
Played On 07/03/2022Good course
This course is almost always in good or better shape. The greens are always very good except for a couple of weeks after aerating. Pretty wide open course with some water and limited bunkers. This is a private course that allows public play at certain times of the year, mostly May to October. Not a long course at only 6000 yards from the tips.
Continental Country Club
Played On 05/21/2022Nice Course
The course is on the shorter side at 6014 yards. There are only 3 sets of tees. That's all they really need there. The challenge is the elevation changes and many holes have an elevated green to hit to. The greens are on the smaller side and quite a few have a fair amount of slope to them. To the Superintendent's credit the green speed was correct for the sloped greens. Had they been any faster you might see a lot of balls roll off the greens. A very enjoyable course that was in good shape. Fairways were mown on the shorter side (I like that) which allowed for a bit more spin to hold the small elevated greens.
Painted Mountain Golf Club
Played On 04/04/2022Average course
I play this course a fair amount because it is reasonably priced compared to other courses in the surrounding area. The course is never great always average so you get consistent conditions except after it rains.
They like to pack the tee times together, every 7 or 8 minutes apart. It's not unusual to see 3 groups on the second hole, a par 3.
The first 2 holes are the longest of their kind a 600 yard par 5 followed by a 200 yard par 3, after that the course gets shorter, 6000 yards from the back tees. Play is usually slow here during tourist season so be prepared.
Reunion Country Club
Played On 03/25/2022Reunion CC
Winter golf in GA, not great but playable. Despite the rain 2 days earlier course was fairly dry and carts allowed on the fairways. This is a hilly course with some distance between several holes, not really a walkable course. Forced carries on a few holes but the tee boxes seem correctly placed to accommodate this. The first par 3 requires a high shot to hold the green as this is a forced carry over a canyon to a somewhat shallow green. Several holes where water comes into play. It was really windy so quality shots were rewarded but bad shots were severely penalized. Once out of winter and the Bermuda grass grows back this should be a fine course to play.
North Shore Golf Course
Played On 11/11/2021Interesting course
The gentleman who was in the pro shop when I checked in explained that this course has 2 distinct 9's. One is links like and the other South Carolina like. Both were accurate descriptions. I enjoyed the variety and the look of each 9, especially the SC style 9.
This course is enjoyable for all handicaps with 4 tee boxes. The links 9 is open with some forced carries, none were too long. The Carolina 9 is somewhat target golf at times where driver off the tee is not always the best play. The greens were good but soft due to rain the previous day.
All in all a very enjoyable course.
Painted Mountain Golf Club
Played On 04/13/2021A decent course
I play this course a fair amount. It is always in good shape. The greens were very good today, but they are always on the slow side. Probably best that way for the clientele. The first 2 holes are long but then the rest are medium length. The wind does play a factor on this course so pay attention. Not too much trouble that you can't get out of but plenty of houses along the course that collect wayward shots. All though this course doesn't require every club in the bag, you do get to play a variety of shots and going for it or laying up is a choice on many holes/
Foxtail Golf Club - North Course
Played On 09/23/2020South course not in good shape
I played early morning by myself. First time at this course. Tee boxes needed mowing but were level enough to pick sides of it. I hit 3 wood a fair amount off the tee and I had to use a longer tee just to find the ground. Fairways were rough, bare spots, muddy areas, circular growths of weeds on them, long grass in odd places. Greens were great, fast, smooth, and soft. Very receptive. The layout is good especially if you like to walk, very easy walking course. Not a course i would play again.
Starfire Golf Club - The King Course
Played On 06/20/2020Good round
I gave Starfire 3 stars it's probably 3.5 stars. The greens had been aerated a couple of weeks earlier and were still rough, especially the front nine. The back nine greens looked better and were probably aerated first.
This course is watered a lot and it shows by all the wet and muddy areas. Unfortunately, there were also many dry or thin patches in the fairways. Again, the back nine looked better.
The tee boxes were hot or miss as to conditioning. Some were very good and some were bad.
The driving range is on grass, if you can find some. It was a bit muddy and in terrible shape. You can get loosened up but don't expect to work on your game here.
I really like the layout and the challenge as they have many bunkers and a fair amount of water. Almost all are avoidable as there is reasonable space to navigate the course. I just wish the course was in better shape. I have played this course many times and conditioning is always a problem. For $50 there are other courses in much better shape. Despite these problems, I played quite well and was happy with my score.
Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
Played On 10/16/2019First time around
The Pine course was just coming out of overseed and was cart path only. Even so, we played in just under 4 hours. Played as a twosome but played behind a couple of foursomes and a threesome.
Good layout with reasonably wide fairways. Some water on the course but not a lot.
Greens were slow as expected. Sign in the proshop stated stimping at 9. They rolled reasonably well but should be better after overseed is complete. They were receptive but not soft. Ball marks were not big divots but could be seen.
Bunkers had little to no sand in them and many had puddles. Went to rake one after a shot out of there and could hardly see my foot prints.
Chateau Elan Golf Club - Chateau Course
Played On 09/26/2019Nice Course
The Chateau Elan has 2 courses open to the public, the Woodlands and the Chateau. This review is of the Chateau.
The course is resort styled with wide fairways. The greens were great. Fast, smooth and hard. Kind of like playing PGA greens. The layout is nice with some water to contend with. All in all, a nice course.
Thanks for the kind comments about our greens! We will pass along your feedback to our management team so they know everyone's hard work is paying off. We hope to see you again soon!
Chicopee Woods Golf Course - Village Nine
Played On 09/24/2019Must Play
This is the second time I played this course. It has 3 nines and I played the one I didn't play the last time.
The course is in great shape, with fast greens. The greens are hard to read as there is not a lot of break on most of them.
Staff was friendly. The practice area is very good for a public course. The range seems to get a lot of use so the grass area is fair. Still it's nice to hit off grass and not mats.
Hi Mark9002439. We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back at Chicopee Woods Golf Course - School Nine!
Longbow Golf Club
Played On 05/19/2019Nice Course
Only played 9 holes today so my review reflects that. I played the front 9.
Course was in great shape. Greens were smooth and rolling fast, course sign said 12. This is a fairly challenging layout but not intimidating. Very playable but there is trouble out there. What I like is the designer didn't overuse bunkers as a defense. They are present but avoidable with correct yardage and smart play. Some water in play and a booklet with pictures of each hole is in every golf cart to help you see your targets.
The place feels like a private club with a friendly staff and cart attendants. Practice facility is one of the best in the area with a full driving range, chipping green and putting green.
The only negative I have, and this is nitpicking, is there are not a lot of great views and the course is not very memorable. That said, I will play this course more often in the future.
Painted Mountain Golf Club
Played On 01/01/2019Enjoyable
Played on New Years Day. Course was in good to better shape. Greens were mostly very good with a few that had patches of dead grass. They rolled well and with a reasonable pace. Because there was hardly anyone else on the course we felt like we had the place to ourselves. While this is not a long or particularly difficult course there are some challenges out there. Fairways are generous and there are 4 or 5 options for tee boxes.
Desert Canyon Golf Club
Played On 12/21/2018Better than last time.
I hadn't played this since the late spring. The course was in excellent shape,. The greens were smooth and fast, not out of control fast but a really good speed. The rest of the course was in equally good shape. The only drawback is the lack of a full size range, limited flight balls will get you loose but distances are a guess.
The course is very playable with room in the fairways, however if you miss into the brush it is thick enough to lose balls. Some holes require downclubbing off the tee but that only adds to the strategy. Plenty of elevation changes to keep it interesting for all skill levels and the mountain views are spectacular.
The Legacy Golf Club
Played On 12/12/2018Really Nice
First time playing this course. Had been recommended to me by many playing partners.
Conditions were very good to excellent. The greens rolled fast and true. Fairways and rough were in very good shape. Most tee boxes were in very good shape and mostly level allowing you to stand to either side without having a side hill lie. I had read a lot of complaints about the bunkers and I saw evidence of this out there, however I had no complaints about the 3 bunkers I got in.
Outstanding! We're thrilled that you enjoyed your first time playing at The Legacy. We can't wait to have you back again soon for your next round!
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Ute Creek Golf Course.
