Prestatyn, an overlooked gem..

Ok, plain and simple, the welcom at the club was very good, catering staff very helpfull and obliging, quality of food, very good, price, excellent.

Golf on a Sunday, £10???

Its a no brainer!!

The course is in very good condition for the time of year, considering many courses are closed or represent a scene from Paschendale or the Somme, this course is becoming a favourite of mine, and i am a member of a links course too.

Pace of play, questionable, you will get society golfers who do not have a clue on course ettiquette, and who seem to lookaway from you when you are on the same tee waiting, why are most of them from Liverpool?

Anyway, overall, a good course, it is of championship length, and must have a great team running the place.

Last but not least, a credit to the Greenstaff, excellent work. *****

Very Wet

This weekend, has seen some very heavy rain, 1vicars X GC is an inland parkland course which is undulating.

The main problem for the course is drainage, what ever its built on, it does not drain well at all, even though there are drainage ditches everywhere.

Ive played this course in the summer in a open competition, so lets just say that today is not a fair time to leave a review due to the course conditions.

On the whole, Vicars X can offer a good test of golf, bring a good game there in the summer and you will enjoy it, theres quite a few undulations and you can be penalised for a good drive, your ball could find a down hill lie, so local knowledge is a must to score well here.

My 3 ball, met a group following who were a little rude, we were being shouted at for crossing a rope, bearing in mind we were carrying, so how were we expected to hit the ball only 35 ft away?

I guess they were only being a little over protective.

No heating on in the clubhouse, it was freezing, we did have a breakfast which was ok and ok as in value, crockery was cold so a hot brew was not going to happen!

( brought my own thermos anyway, didnt use it in the clubhouse though!)

Would i go back?....Nope...

Played on nice sunny day, with my partner who is deaf and the number of blind holes was awkward. Was not particularly difficult as it is now only two days later and I cannot remember any hole in particular. It is surrounded by housing on all sides and compared to other D&G courses views are lacking. NB: very limited parking entrance on main road and most players have to park on road outside of course. Glad we got this on a Golf Now deal and played for £16 each, that is what it is worth.
