About
Perpetually seeking the blessing of the Golf God to rid my game of those two to three "blow-up" holes that prevent me from breaking 90. Then again, perhaps it is time to see my swing coach again?
(8/2013) Update: Went to my eye doctor instead... and I'm sinking more putts. Who wudda thought?

When I totaled up my putts for my round I could not believe it..... 25!!!! WOW!!!! The greens were running beautiful. The course is tough & tight at times, 6th hole par 5 is not ‘’my”’ friend.! Head pro Billy is a very accommodating. We were a twosome & he sent us out before a foursome. Starting on the 2nd. Thank you Billy! We never saw anyone until the 7th. Conditions were great... greens fantastic... unfortunately the rest of my game didn’t match up to my putting. Despite that, Whitney is always a pleasure to play. I highly recommend this course, although challenging, it’s always a come home course to me.

Played On 09/27/2019Great greens. Nice fairways. Horrible Bunkers
Haven’t played here in a few years at which time it was more like a private club. Unfortunately seems like course mgt staff has forgotten bunkers are part of the game. Recommend if you do land I. One the rock filled or absent of sand bunkers, pick up your ball & take a free drop. Dollar wise, they should be offering better deals for the playing conditions. So, just stay out of bunkers & you’ll have a good round. I did.

The course was in very good condition for the mid-April season, that is with the exception of the bunkers. THEY on the other hand were nothing more than gravel and probably will be for the season as I do not remember them being anything but a 'gravely' mix at any other time. Aside from that, the greens were okay, certainly not that of a private club or even semi-private club. Still though, Oak Lane remains one of my favorites for its design, layout, speed, and locale. So when you compare some of the other courses nearby, Oak Lane works for me.
Whitney Farms Golf Club
Played On 06/06/2016Good Ol' Whitney
Despite heavy rains on Sunday 6/5 the course was in good shape overall... except for most of the bunkers. Layout at Whitney is always a challenge, actually I think it is one of the best around. New Head Pro is far more friendly promoting excellent customer service than past 'dinosaur'... The one item that Whitney still needs, a good practice putting green. But then there is Tashua down the road a bit... excellent practice facility. Combine the two and WOW! It would almost like being at home which is TPC Sawgrass.
Windsor Parke Golf Club

I was pleasantly surprised with the course conditions, quite good, especially the greens and bunkers. Some areas of hard pack grounds, but then we haven't had much rain of recent. All in all, have to say I enjoyed the conditions and the day. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the layout and design of the course as well. The only negative, no ranger to move along "two" drunkards in front of our foursome. Oh yeah... golf course maintenance staff needs to attend to the restrooms... !!! At least there are plenty of trees... :)
Golf Club At South Hampton
Played On 05/20/2015a great day of golf
This was my first time playing South Hampton and I found it quite challenging from the blue tees in that on many of the holes it is a shot making course. The greens were fast, well taken care of as were most of the fairways (some dry spots, but overall great conditions). Only negative was the limited driving range for warm-up. Aside from that, I will definitely return for more rounds.

Oak Lane is a fun, challenging, very eye-pleasing course. Staff is great - providing excellent customer service. The bunkers could use some attention, but the greens rolled fast & true.
Red at D. Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course
Played On 8/22/2013the $10 special W/cart
Having played the "Wheel" (RED course) numerous times in years past I knew what to expect... Holes 1,9,10, & 18 were going to be the obstacles... and they were as they are being re-seeded. But the greens ran true, quick, no blotches.. and the bunkers were just fine, too. AND the last minute w/cart special of $10... terrific! Will I return? yes... even without a $10 special.
Bent Creek Golf Course
Played On 7/16/2013A Fun and Challenging Course!
This was the first time I have played this course and I will certainly return for more outings. While the fairways and greens were in good condition, the bunkers definitely need attention, and they could use far more yardage markers. The practice areas are some of the best I've seen in this area and the golf staff is very cordial which all contributed to making the day quite pleasant.
Jacksonville Beach Golf Club
Played On 5/16/2013Jax Beach Golf? Yes, it's worth playing.
Opposed to other reviews, Jax Beach Golf is in my opinion, worth playing. Especially when you find a hot deal for $19. True, several of the greens are currently under repair and being re-sodded. So if you happen to land on some "patch-work" - lift, clean, and place - and you will still have an enjoyable round. Though I did not land in one my entire round, the bunkers appeared to be good condition with decent sand (which is far superior to some of the courses I've played in the North Florida area). Staff is very friendly and quite eager to make your day a pleasant one. The only true annoyance was having far too many 'other' golfers retrieving 'water' balls and slowing the play down... I mean, for a mere $6 to $10, go to a store like WalMart and buy some reconditioned ones!!! Will I play Jax Beach again? Absolutely.
The Oak Bridge Club
Played On 1/12/2013Challenging Par 70 - Good Value, Excellent Customer Service
It is far better to play this course during the week than on a weekend. Having played this course 4 times now, a typical round during the week can be done in 3 to 3.5 hours unlike a Saturday under sunny blue skies and 80* temps. Some improvements could be made to the bunkers, but overall you will be enjoying a good round of golf on this challenging layout with pleasant views and friendly staff that make you feel welcome, time and time again.
