A Must Play in SoCal

This place oozes wealth from the time you pull up to the valet and there are Bentleys, lambos, and ferraris sitting around everywhere. I was told people say this is the pebble beach of south California. It's not quite to that level but a very nice course and must play. Tee times can be quite pricey in the AM ($400 or more). But you can get a pretty good deal at $200-$275 after lunch. They have brand new 2022 club cars which are nice and they do have the "shark experience" on them. I played the south course from the blue tees with 25 mph winds. Even at 6200 ish yards it felt very long. Beautiful layout including two back to back par threes along the ocean that are fantastic designed holes. Ocean views on many holes. For low handicappers, the north course is definitely more of the tougher "players course" - it plays about 500-600 yards further from the tips than the south course. I personally felt I liked the south course better because I prefer a shorter more fun course and also love a few good ocean holes. Both are must plays though if you are in the Newport area!

Great Value

Great value for the money. $69 I believe. This is about an $80-$100 course back home. Rentals were a nice set of Callaway clubs and came with balls. Course used to host the korn ferry tour. Has a fun layout. In good shape. Greens were fast and had a ton of undulation. Even 8-10' putts that look like they don't have much break have pretty severe break. Didn't make any putts and didn't play very well but a fun day. Course record is 62 by Patton Kizzire on the PGA tour. Plays around 7700 yards from the tips. We played it around 6400 yards and it was a lot of fun at that distance. Would love to come back.

It's a Muni

Definitely your typical city Muni. Pace of play was one of the worst I have ever seen. We were trending on a 5.5 hr round before two of the foursome ahead of us left at the turn. Three groups waiting on one par three tee box behind them (9). Finished at 445hrs I believe. Brutal. We were a threesome. Course was in decent conditions for the play and greens were in good shape as well. Greens are hard as heck to read speeds. Always try to see if you are down grain or not. Reminded me of Florida greens which I hate. The pro shop was super nice and had great attitudes. The rental clubs were pretty average srixons and didn't come with balls. So by the time I bought rental clubs and balls it was WAY too much for what I got. Wouldn't go back due to the traffic if the course and layout.

On the way to the masters

This was a great course but probably our least favorite of the lake oconee courses we played. A couple members said this course was also by far the toughest but we felt great waters was tougher. The front nine suited my eye well with a lot of holes going left to right which is perfect for my ball flight. Greens rolled well and several pretty holes. Only downfall was the $300-$350 price due to it being masters week.

Makes the most of the property!

If you like beautiful lake views this is your course. The first 8 holes are nice but kind of ho hum before you get introduced to the last 10 holes with water everywhere. Greens rolled pure and course was nice for early spring. We felt this course was the hardest of the lake oconee courses. Almost every hole plays for a RH draw and goes to the left which does not fit my eye but was still fun. Only downfall was the $300-$350 cost due to it being masters week. Coming down the 16-18th holes at sunset are a treat.

Lake Golf at it's Finest

Great Course Design and Layout with some beautiful water holes. Roughs were over seeded giving it a nice plush green look even in early spring. Course was in great condition and greens rolled pure. I believe this was my favorite of the lake oconee courses with great waters following closely behind. Played with a couple members who were very nice as well. Only downside was the $300-350 price tag (because of it being masters week).

The only show in town.....

The most southern golf course in the U.S. The course was very average overall. A shorter course as I believe the tips were only around 6600 yards. Layout was ok but not great. A few of the holes were pretty holes and an interesting par three where you are hitting over the swampland. Greens were in good condition but very hard. I didn't even have to fix a divot from a 100 yard wedge shot. A lot of the bunkers have tons of huge rocks in them for some reason. Homeless camps beside the fairways next to the highway made things interesting. $110 or $85 at twilight. I felt that was a bit pricey as in my mind it's a $50 golf course all day long where I am from. But the tee sheet was pretty booked up so if they can get it then good for them. Unfortunately no beautiful ocean holes or water holes you might think of when you think of keys golf but I knew that going in. It's about the only ball game in town for golfing throughout the keys which was the only reason I was there. Can say I played it once but have no real reason to want to go back.

Fantastic Condition

I am very confused as to why this course only has 3.1 out of 5 stars. We played 5 courses in Phoenix over the weekend including quintero, desert mountain, and wickenburg ranch and I think this one might have been my favorite. The course was immaculate. Greens were perfect. Fun yet challenging layout but scoreable. I am a 9 handicap and finished with an 86. Several D1 college golf teams were on the range so it was fun watching someone hit golf balls like they are supposed to be hit for a change. =). My only complaint was that I feel it is a $200-$250 course and not a $330 course. But obviously they have no trouble filling the tee sheets at $330 so good for them!

Private Oasis in the Desert

Fun and challenging golf course. All of the desert mountain courses are very private so unless you are a member or know someone living inside the gates good luck getting on. Greens were fast but manageable. It's definitely a shot makers course. Most the people I have talked to rate Geronimo as either the first, second, or third best course at desert mountain. I really enjoyed hole #1 and #18. Watch out for havalenas running around! The food in the clubhouse was fantastic. Get the meatloaf sliders! Would love to be invited back!

Fun Par Three Short Course

The goods- course was in good shape. Greens were fast. Fun holes. Nice mix of short, medium, and longer par threes. The 4 person party carts were fun to have everyone riding together. Clubhouse was cool. Bar area and cart girls were great. Cool views of camelback mountain.

The bads - way overpriced for what it is, the pace of play was terrible (actually had to leave after 15 holes to make another engagement that I never would have thought I would've had issues making), I understand there is only a certain amount of land to put this course on but with a lot of holes crammed together and some not so great golfers it is always good to keep a heads up for balls flying everywhere.

Would definitely play it again though.

Great Track Outside the City!

Played this course in the afternoon after playing Quintero in the morning. What a day of golf! Wickenburg is a fantastic community and golf course. Got paired with a member. Fun round and course. In great shape. Fast greens. Paid $170 which was half the price of quintero. Actually had a couple quintero employees say they liked wickenburg better. I personally liked quintero Better but only because I enjoy golf courses with few houses around them. Had lunch at the restaurant which was great as well. The only bad things I can say were that pace of play was really really slow and there was no beverage cart and they also didn't include a bottle of water or two with the round.

Great Public Track Outside Phoenix

Loves - great condition, great layout, possibly the fastest & hardest greens I've ever played, we were first off the tee in the AM so we set the pace, staff was fantastic and friendly, love that it's out in the middle of nowhere and way outside the city.

Hates- pretty overpriced in my opinion compared to other $350 courses I have played. Also I am a 9 handicap and didn't break 100 for the first time in probably 5 years. The course and greens are tough! I'm a pretty good putter and probably had 8 three putts.

Definitely put this one on the list if you are in Phoenix!

Top New Course in Cabo

Fantastic new Greg Norman design right along the Pacific! I have played 10-12 Cabo courses over the years and would rank this one as easily #2. (I still think quivira is my favorite). Fun track. Challenging (especially with the wind). Beautiful. Free tacos. All the things you'd want in a Cabo course. Would love to come back! Expensive but worth it!

Classic Cabo

Classic Cabo course. Good design. Good condition. Good layout. Good ocean views. It's a little more expensive than it should be in my opinion but when in Rome I guess. The staff was very friendly and fantastic. I would definitely come back. Wish they would've kept the ocean course public though so I could play it as well. I have played 10-12 Cabo golf courses over the years and would rate it in the top 5.

The OG in Cabo

One of Cabo's older courses.... A fun track. I have played 10-12 courses in Cabo and would rank it right in the middle. Staff was more friendly than most. Pace of play was good. A little expensive for what it is but not bad. Like most Cabo courses, lots of ocean views as well as one hole running up to the ocean. (Brittney Spears was staying in a house next to this hole). I'd come back as it was not stuffy and very laid back.

Least favorite of the three nines....

The layout of the heritage course was kind of underwhelming. If you are playing 18 I would definitely choose the champions and legends courses. Overall the course was in good shape for the middle of fall. Was a very cold and windy day so the scoring was very high. Lots to see and do with the lake and resort nearby. Had dinner in the clubhouse steakhouse which was fantastic. I definitely want to come back in the summer. I would give the heritage course a 3.5/5 and the other two courses a 4-4.5/5.

Amazing.

This place is incredible. Played golf all over the United States and this one made my top five. Immaculate conditions. Course design is fantastic. Caddy was awesome. Pace of play was great. A little pricey but worth it and you get a bag tag, cigar, and bottle of liquor as well. You can also play as much as you want for the one price. We ended up playing an extra 9 holes from the tips which stretch out to around 8100 yards making it one of the longest courses in the country. If you're near here make it happen!

Such a Classic Golf Course

A very classic golf course in the heart of Indiana. Greens are insane with the undulation. Unfortunately/fortunately the greens were aerated two days before we played so it probably saved a few three and four putts but would like to play it again when they are rolling better. We played it at 6700-6800 yards but it plays 300-400 yards further. The par threes are tough... One was playing around 240 into the wind. Can't remember the last time I had to hit driver on a par three. Has a very classic old timey feel to it. 9 is a quirky hole where the entrance to the course crosses the fairway. My partner and I both shot in the 70s under our handicaps so it was a good day. Dinner at the Hagan restaurant in the clubhouse was also great. Known for their ribs. Only complaints would be slow pace of play, greens being aerated, and no driving range on the property. Definitely a must play!

Branson, Mo - Bucket List Golf Destination

Being local, we used to play all the courses in Branson and get tee times the day before playing. Now that Branson has started blowing up on the golf scene thanks to the new TGR design course it's tough to get on so was thankful to get to play it again. The customer service has always been lacking at all the bass pro courses, but they have made a few changes and it was fantastic this time around. It rained about 2 inches right before we teed off so the course was quite soppy but drained ok. Played the course at 6900 yards from the blues. Fun course. Would compare it to Ozarks National in that it's very wide open and you can hit a bad drive and still find yourself in the fairway. A few longer par threes and a couple mammoth par fives along with a couple short risk reward par fours. Course was in great shape. The real bucket list part of the course is after the round ends on the 19th hole and the drive back up to the club house. I personally feel it's the easiest of the three courses followed by Ozarks National and then buffalo ridge. The downfall of Paynes Valley is the green fees (I believe it is $375ish), the pace of play, and one mixed drink on the course is $20!! I still believe that the best course there for a more skilled golfer from both a design & visual appeal standpoint is the original buffalo ridge which is about half the price. If you are traveling to Branson for a golf trip don't forget about some of the other courses down there besides the "big 3". Make sure and play the mountain top par three course. It's my favorite course in Branson from a fun and cost effective standpoint. Ledgestone is a fantastic course that should be added to the mix. Finally, Branson hills (formerly Payne Stewarts course) is a nice course that I Feel is one of the toughest in the state. If you haven't made plans for a golf trip to Branson, do it!!!
