Ridgefield Golf Course
Played On 08/01/2021Town needs to hire new staff
Grew up playing this course, prob played hundreds of rounds here. Today's experience was lackluster and the staff needs to have training on how to treat a paying customer....especially when said customer is a town tax payer and funds their salaries. We booked a 4 some...we had one person drop out last minute because of COVID tracing. We were told upon check-in that we would have to pay for the other golfer that didn't show up because of "lost revenue". The only problem is they paired us with another single...so where is the "lost revenue"? We explained the situation and were still told we cant play unless we pay for the 4th golfer and they refused a refund. The so called "Pro" intervened and raised his voice inappropriately in front of other customers essentially making the situation worse. If you are going to work in a customer facing role you should really learn how to speak to a person and learn to diffuse a customer complaint instead of chiding and being rigid.
Beekman Country Club - Highland/Valley
Played On 05/06/2017Fun course to play
This was my first time playing the course and I was truly impressed with the conditions and layout. We played Highland/Taconic early afternoon on a Saturday and finished in just under 4 hours. It had rained a lot in the week previous so it was cart paths only but I was surprised how well the course took the water, there weren't too many wet areas within play. The greens rolled true and were in great condition and were also moderately fast especially with the amount of rain we had. Some areas of the course had some really beautiful views of the surrounding foothills. The course is somewhat hilly with large open fairways and a couple lengthy par 3's from the tips. It is my understanding that the course is under new ownership and it showed in the course conditions and upgrades I saw to the facility including newly renovated bathrooms and restaurant/bar area upgrades.
Verdict Ridge Golf & Country Club
Played On 06/13/2014Nice Track
This was my first round in North Carolina, was visiting from New England. I have to admit, the layout was pretty similar to some courses you would see in the northeast with quite a bit of elevation change throughout. Course was in great condition, some of the bunkers had standing water but most were good considering we were dealing with on and off storms throughout the day. Great value, we paid $45 and played in about 4 hours on a Friday Afternoon. I would definitely return if in the Charlotte area again.
Woodbridge Country Club
Played On 04/12/2014Interesting Layout, Difficult Greens
This was my first time playing this course, it was early in the season so as expected the conditions weren't great, the greens were average pace at best and had been aerated and top dressed recently. Some of the bunkers also looked a little weathered. #1 and #18 were temporary greens, it looks like they were rebuidling the first green. The course definitely has potential..we played the tips....there is a good mix of long & short holes with some elevation change throughout the layout. Most of the greens are undulating and small, I don't think I had a flat putt all day. Overall, I would say the course was good with a very fun and interesting layout, no hole looks the same. I plan on visiting again later in the spring when the greens (hopefully!) are in a little bit better shape.
Blackledge Country Club - Anderson's Glen
Played On 09/04/2013Great Value
I really enjoyed the layout, course has a great mix of holes. Most holes require that you be accurate off the tee, there are a few holes on the back nine that give you a bit more room, however i would say the course is moderately narrow. Paid $45 with cart, for that price the conditions were great. Greens were smooth and moderately fast and the bunkers were well maintained. One of the best bangs for your buck in the hartford area in my opinion.

The overall layout of the course is challenging, we played the blue tees. There is a lot of elevation change to deal with throughout the entire course, the par 3's are long but most of them are downhill so it offsets some of the distance. The greens were in poor shape, there were alot of dirt patches on every green due to prior standing water and they were very slow. These were probably the worst greens i've played on all year. I will not be back anytime soon.
Hi "cjoconn82" Thanks for the excellent review. Beekman is definitely a fun course to play. We appreciate you taking notice in many of our upgrades to the course and overall facilities. Thank you for the great review and we hope to see you again in the near future.
