The Course at Sewanee
Played On 04/27/2019Pleasantly surprised
I booked a tee time here as I was looking for another course to play as well as Sweetens Cove. I was extremely happy that I chose Sewanee.
Great practice area with enough room to hit off the turf, so I was a little disappointed that we had to hit off mats. Practice green was in identical condition as the course. I booked as a single and came across several other singles and twosomes, so it would have been nice if the shop paired people up to help the pace.
The course was in great condition, the greens were still healing a bit but still rolled well and fast. The amount of undulation in the greens made judging uphill and downhill putts challenging.
The course layout was fun. Sidehill lies, blind shots, deep bunkers, and big greens. Big enough that it would be neat if they used a 2nd flag for the back 9.
The views are amazing as you come up 1 and 8 to the INN and the par 3’s overlooking the valley below.
The pro shop/restaurant is tiny but great staff simple and delicious menu.
I joined up with a pro caliber player who said he likes Sewanee better than Sweetens so if you come to this area definitely try Sewanee.

Absolutely beautiful course. Tee boxes and fairways are like carpet, and the large sloping greens rolled great. Will definitely return.

This is the finest public course I have found since moving to TN. From when you walk into the clubhouse and look out over the course you are about to play, you will not be disappointed. The practice facilities are a true example of what you will find on the course as you play. The putting green and driving range are both kept in excellent condition. Then there is the course. You will not play the same type of hole twice, and the elevation changes and blind shots make club selection a premium. The conditions are as fine as you will find and you will not find greens anywhere, especially at the price, that will roll more true. This course is an absolute gem and a must play if you're in the area. It is well worth the club's advertised price, but if you can snag it for a golfnow deal then you have gotten the best deal around.
The Links at Novadell
Played On 05/05/2015Military Members Beware!
I recently moved to the Ft. Campbell area to a frequently deploying unit. When I discovered Novadell, I was extremely excited about the atmosphere at the club. A beautiful clubhouse and grill with great practice facilities and great equipment with outstanding discounts for members. I was eager to begin a membership and start taking advantage of the excellent deals. I openly explained to them that I was more than likely going to be deploying in the near future, but was interested in starting my membership with the stipulation that my payments would freeze when I deployed and restart when I returned. The management at Novadell was not excited to hear this. They came up with a "special" payment plan for me claiming that I was the first person to bring up this scenario. To their credit, I was told that April 2015 was the first membership year that the club had started a monthly payment plan for the annual membership so that may or may not have been true. Their plan was for me to pay an increased amount during typical golf season months and less during the winter months. I explained that I would rather pay the same monthly payment every month, as this is not the only bill I pay. I explained to management that my deployments cannot be predicted and I had been a member of multiple other golf clubs that simply freeze payments when you deploy and reinitiate them when you return #just like almost all other businesses that adhere to the Servicemember's Civil Relief Act#. This is not because they're required to do it, but because it's the right thing to do.
This is where the management became insulting. First of all, they implied that people #soldiers# could take advantage of this situation even though I was being open about my situation and offered to provide them a copy of certified deployment orders with an anticipated return date. What was even more disturbing was once I was able to sit down with management to discuss this, they disclosed that they have had several military members in the past pay a full years membership upfront without compensation if and when they had to deploy. That works out great for the club, but doesn't seem quite fair to the individual. Next, after telling me that my request would need to be discussed with the board members, the manager said to me that they might have to consider whether having a monthly payment plan is worth the trouble if people like myself #soldiers# were going to make this request. Despite all of this, I was still interested in giving this club my money, and I was told that the manager would speak with the board and call me back the next day. This was the third time a phone call was not returned to me and the last straw in my wanting to do business with this place.
The worst part of everything, however, as an avid golfer, was that despite multiple extremely polite and helpful staff members #Andrew, Kyler, the ladies who work at the grill#, great practice facilities, great instructional facilities, awesome food, great course layout, this course is in as bad of shape as any I have seen. Best of luck to anyone who decides to frequent/join this club. I thought the pros would outweigh the cons, but apparently management did not agree.
Deercroft Golf Club

The first thing we experienced when we arrived was the extremely nice staff. They were enthusiastic and checked in on us on the course to see how we were enjoying it. The driving range was under repair and looked like it is going to be pretty nice when completed but they did have a temporary range which was appreciated. The chipping and putting area was pristine. The course was difficult but fun. It seemed to play longer than the 6600 yards advertised from the tips, with a lot of downhill drives and uphill approaches. The course was in excellent condition. The greens were soft and rolled perfectly. Overall awesome course that I will play again and would recommend to anyone looking for an affordable round on an above average course.
7 Lakes Golf Club
Played On 06/28/2014Best kept secret in the Pinehurst area
I have played here several times since first discovering it in the Fall of 2013. The course has always been in tremendous shape. The greens are as smooth and true as you will find and are way faster than average which I love. The course is absolutely beautiful with a number of tee shots and views that make you just pause to appreciate them. My only knock would be that the half way house is almost never open. However, I have called and the club has been happy to run me out a few beers and snacks which brings me to the point that the staff is as friendly as I have ever seen. They all seem to genuinely love beig around the game and doing whatever they can to make your experience better.
