Ewa Beach Golf Club
Played On 12/11/2017Best Greens on Oahu
Played here with the weekly gang some on a not too busy Monday. Really loved the nice greens and tightly mown fairways. The layout has a wide variety of holes to test golfers of every ability. Well placed Keawe trees force you to think about shot placement and a fair amount of water hazards to make things fun. Excellent clubhouse and restaurant to round out the total experience. Well worth the drive to the Ewa side.
Boulder Creek Golf Club - Coyote Run/Eldorado Valley
Played On 12/04/2017Nice. Tract, Worth the Drive
Beautiful day @Boulder Creek although the weather was a bit windy and wintry. Played the Coyote Run and Eldorado nines; both have 4 sets of tees, all of which offer challenging but fair tests. Lots of fairway bunkers to test your driving game and a few water hazards to further make things fun. Greens were in great shape and the putting was tricky given the windy conditions. The only thing average was the rental golf club set; worn grips and a bit beat up (Callaway X-hots). Nice pro shop with lots of sale items. 30 minute drive from the Vegas but well worth it. Used the Golfnow website and got a nice discount.
San Dimas Canyon Golf Course
Played On 05/28/2017Beautiful Greens and Scenic Views
Played here early on a Sunday morning in a shotgun start tournament. Weather was perfect and the greens were fast and in excellent shape. Pace of play was also ideal; without the shotgun start it would have been a lot slower. The course is on the shorter side, but plenty of trees, sand bunkers and some water hazards to make your round most enjoyable.
Rhodes Ranch Country Club
Played On 05/05/2017Nice Layout and Friendly Staff
Played RR on a quite busy Friday and thoroughly enjoyed my round. The course was in very nice shape although the greens were a bit slow. Rented a nice set of Calloway clubs. Typical Ted Robinson designed course with a fair amount of water and sand hazards. Liked the graduated tee locations ranging from 6,000 to 7,000 yards; something for everyone.
Sun Mountain at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort
Played On 09/18/2016Smooth Greens and Well Maintained Tract
Beautiful Sunday in Vegas spent on one of the better courses. The greens were smooth, no grain, and no way to tell that aeration took place 2 weeks ago. Pace of play was great as we played the first 6 holes before we ran into the group in front. In all, finished well within 4 hours. Very nice pro shop with lots of nice on sale merchandise. Rental clubs were Taylor Made (M2), top of the line. Got a good deal on Golfnow green fee, as the price goes up later in the high season. Still like the Wolf best, but Sun is right up there.
Golf Summerlin - Highland Falls Course
Played On 04/03/2016High Country Views & Good Test
Nice layout and not too crowded on a Sunday morning. Greens were punched recently, but still ran true with good speed. Fair amount of water holes and bunkers; none of the hazards are located in blind spots. Excellent rental clubs (Callaway). Lots of elevation changes overlooking the Vegas valley.
Revere Golf Club - Lexington Course
Played On 01/10/2016Challenging but Fair; excellent conditions
First time @ Concord, although I played the Lexington around 10+ years ago. The course is in great shape and the weather could not be better--sunshine and 50 degrees. Booked a round through Golfnow website as a single, but was fortunate to be paired up with a threesome of Canadian visitors. Also played with a nice set of Callaway XR clubs. The course is challenging but has a wide variety of holes laid out over some hilly terrain--Something for everyone.
Royal Ka'anapali
Played On 10/12/2015Original Robert Trent Jones Old-Style Tract in Excellent Condition
Came back here to play after 12 years or so. Still an excellent test of golf even with relatively moderate trade wind conditions. Found a good deal on Golfnow, and then got another discount when we showed up at the course: $ 60 green fee which is very reasonable for a course of this standing. The back nine par is 34, with 7 par 4's and 2 par 3's, and the front nine par is 37 with 3 par 5's and 2 par 3's. I can't remember the last time I played at any course with this unusual break-down of holes. The ocean views are excellent and you can't beat the ideal location. Also nice to play on Bermuda-type greens with grain.
Canyon/Lakes at Spanish Trail Country Club
Played On 07/05/2015Well Conditioned Test of Golf
Played as a single early on a Sunday. Played the Lakes and Sunset nines (they have a total of three nine hole layouts). The course is typical of RTJ, Jr. designs---fairly moderate fairway widths and enough hazards to make it a challenge. There were no blind holes (a good thing) and a fair amount of water/sand hazards. Found a good deal on Golf Now ($100) which is fairly priced given the excellent course conditions, i.e. smoothly manicured greens which were a bit tricky to read. I have played all of Par 4 Golf Company's courses in Vegas, and I rate this one on par with both of Primm Valley's courses (Desert and Lakes). The white tees measured around 6,400 yards which makes for a fun round for the 80's shooter. The back tees measure around 7,000 yards and would be challenging for the 70's caliber golfer. Clubhouse facilities, pro shop, locker rooms, etc. are also excellent. All in all, a great value and nice day to golf, albeit the hot temperatures. I finished before noon, therefore not too scorching. :0)
The Crossings At Carlsbad
Played On 05/24/2015Hills and More Hills
Nicely laid out course with wide fairways and undulating greens. The only drawback is there were a lot of blind shots off the tee. The greens were nice and fast, typical for the SOCAL "sponges". Played the whites (around 6,000 yards) which would be quite short by any standard, however the hilly terrain and windy conditions made it challenging. Rental clubs were excellent, Taylor Made woods and irons. Got a discounted price through Golfnow, $100 on a holiday weekend, which is very reasonable. Definitely not a course for walkers.....
Arroyo Golf Club
Played On 03/04/2015Weather Good, Track Fast.......
Played the Arroyo course on a quiet Wednesday minus the crowds. Started on #8, due to green-punching schedule, but worked out just fine, as the course is laid out in a links style (old school out nine and in nine). Greens were in excellent shape, even with the first 7 holes freshly punched. Fairways moderately wide, with no real forced carries, at least from the black tees (6,400 yards). I played the Red Rock CC (sister course) around 15 years ago when it first opened as a daily fee public course. Rolling fairways laid out between the housing development make for a very enjoyable round of golf.
Bear's Best Las Vegas
Played On 12/28/2014Good Variety of olf Holes
Played the course again after several years have past. The greens were not as fast as I remember them, but still in excellent shape. Good variety of golf holes, some easy and some difficult. Rental clubs were great (Taylor Made). Found a good deal on Golf Now and saved around 30% off the rack rate.
Wolf at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort
Played On 11/28/2014Wolf Course Best of the Three @Paiute
Finally played the Wolf, which I would rate as the best of the 3 courses. The Wolf has a bit more undulations, but fewer water hazards than Sun and Snow. Greens were perfect and not a bad lie in the fairways, The pace of play was OK on the front but got a little slow on the back. Just made it before 0-dark thirty (teed off at 11:00 A.M. Was also nice to see the clubhouse, since I had not been out to Paiute for about 12 years.
TPC Las Vegas
Played On 08/31/2014Top Conditioned Course
Played here again after many years. Well maintained course with good mix of holes. Greens running fast and true. No blind holes, however you need to keep the ball in play to score decently. Excellent rental clubs, I may switch to Callaway irons after I get home.
Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms Resort - Zaharias Course
Played On 05/10/2014Old Style and Excellent
Played the Babe Course after many years (25+). Still a great value, on a hilly tract with moderate sized targets. Greens were a little slow, but probably had to do with the different type of grass I usually play on (seaside paspalum).
Stallion Mountain Golf Club
Played On 03/29/2014Well Conditioned and Very Fair
Another beautiful day in Vegas, calm day on a well-maintained course. Carts with GPS, and excellent rental clubs--Taylor Made woods and irons. The course has moderately wide fairways and a fair amount of sand/water hazards. 6,300 yards from the white, which is very playable if you stay on the fairways. Played on a Saturday (March 31) and still got around in 4 hours, i.e. even with a skins game tournament in front of us we got around pretty quickly.
Royal Links Golf Club
Played On 12/27/2013UK Golf Karma
Played here after many years, still a very nicely laid out tract. Good mixture of golf holes, and nice ending to both nines----both medium length par fives.. Not real long from the middle tees, but challenging at the same time... Walters Golf does an excellent job marketing their courses.... Great set of Callaway golf clubs (rentals).... I'll be back for sure.....
Primm Valley Golf Club - Desert Course
Played On 10/19/2013Excellent test of golf
As always, Primm is a winner off the beaten track, as they say. Played the Desert Course on a weekend day as part of the semi-annual golf tournament. Went off the white tees for the first time, so the course looked a lot different. Even from the whites, you still have to hit accurate shots and the signature hole (#2) still plays very tough (second shot over the lake, but there is somewhat of a bailout to the right). Excellent pro shop. Also, you cannot beat the driving range and short game area (2 greens with bunkers which allow 60-70 yard pitch shots).
Chimera Golf Club
Played On 10/18/2013Wide fairways, good conditions.
Played Tuscany last Friday, weather sunny, nicely laid out course with good greens. Not too tight off the tee, some water hazards and well placed bunkers. For a Friday, not too crowded, although we did get placed behind a golf outing (tournament). Still finished 18 in a little over 4 hours. The clubhouse looks a bit on the spartan side, but I suspect this is because the houses around the course are still being built---Henderson is a fast growing community.
Bali Hai Golf Club
Played On 8/11/2013Nice greens, generously wide fairways.
Liked the Callaway rental clubs, and not too crowded even on a weekend. The only drawback is no "real" driving range -- only nets.
kungfu78 Thanks for the great review! We're happy to hear that you enjoyed our course despite our recent aerification. Please come back and play with us again!
