Irondequoit Country Club
Played On 05/10/2014Masquerading as a classic Ross design...
Irondequoit CC is average at best. The members masquerade the course as a classic Ross design, when in fact most of the holes were not designed by Ross at all, and do not bear classic Ross characteristics. The golf course is short, the rough is not penal, the bunkers are not flashed, and the course is generally not well maintained. The greens have some serious growth problems, and did not roll true. If you are in the Rochester area, I would FAR sooner recommend Monroe Golf Club (a TRUE Ross design), CCR, or of course the venerable Oak Hill Country Club right next door. Having played Oak Hill East on the same trip, t's hard to imagine that these two golf courses actually abut one another. Oak Hill's greens are fare more challenging, faster, and the overall course conditioning is at a different level. The ICC first tee operations also leave a great deal to be desired. Skip this venue if you are in the Rochester area.
