I play all around town. this was my 3rd round this week. The course was in much better condition than some other top courses in town ( by Humble TX)
I would highly recommend Blackhorse if you can get a deal on the tee time. I'm just not able to drop what their rack rate is. Great course and friendly workers.

We were never told that the Island green was closed and under repairs. We waited on about every tee box for the groups in front of us. Was close to a 5 hour round. I saw a Marshall once the whole day. No cart girl on the course, no water station either. This has been one of my favorite courses in the past, so I no they can do better.
So many businesses going down hill lately.
On the bright side the greens were in good shape.

heavy rain started on the 2nd hole, but cleared up in 30 minutes. The course held some water but overall drained well considering how much rain fell in a short period of time. they are still working on the 9th green and have a temporary green set up. there practice putting green is also a work in progress. driving range was open , mat only. The current mats are well past there expiration date. Time to upgrade them guys. Hard to say how the greens were because it was so wet, but normally they are fantastic. Yes I would recommend this course.

I haven't been to Longwood for about a year ,because of the poor conditions of the course in the past. I have heard that they are making progress, and it is showing a little bit. Several Tee Boxes are still all dirt. Not fun on the par threes. The Greens are better than last time I played here, so that was a plus. The Pro shop guy and starter were friendly. The big issue I had was the lack of signage on the post course. Good luck finding the 5th tee box. Took me 15 minutes of driving around ,Same thing on 9
There are many signs BUT GUYS you need a few more.
I reported this to the starter and was told people get lost between holes all the time.
If you know about it, How about a fix. A few signs wouldn't be a big deal for your maintenance guys.
Overall the course was worth the $37 I paid. Now will I go back YES BUT WITH A GUIDE

the employees are super friendly. The price point can't be beat. So with that said I would go back and play there as a practice round. The greens still need time to grow (not much grass on them) the bunkers were racked out nice.
Just remember you will get what you pay for here. Your not paying much don't except much, But for me its worth what they charge just to get out and swing.

I have played both the North and a South course many times. Today I was on the South and found it to be in the best conditions I have seen at Blackhorse in a long time. Fairways were clean and the greens rolled very well. I would play it again tomorrow if I could.

A friendly country golf course. Of course at this price point there will be a lot of beginners that slow thing down. The lay out is nice but the turf conditions need a lot of work. Greens are slow and very bumpy. I know they're trying to get it into better shape but it's not there yet.
For about a dollar a hole I'll go back just to work on my game. It needs work too.

Greens are very receptive and are running true.
Grass is starting to grow in fairways and tee boxes.
For this early in the year the course is in good shape.

While you can see there is work being done, they have a ways to go.
Thin grass in fairways and bumpy greens.
It is still winter and the grass is not growing yet.
Hopefully the grounds crew can get it all together by the spring. If this course had greens like there sister course Cypress Lakes it would be great.

For the price point this is a terrific course.
Right now there is good grass in the fairways,
Greens are a bit bumpy and slow, but once you get use to them its all good.
I understand there is a new owner, I hope they put some money into this course. It could be a diamond in the ruff with the right course management, and green keeper.

Over all the course was in good shape. The starter and Pro shop were helpful and friendly. The only down side were the tee boxes need grass. The Greens were a bit slower than normal for Black Horse.
The sand traps are finally packing in. The fluffy new sand from last year was tuff.
Just some picky minor thing, but to be a premium course for this area this should be addressed.
I will play this course again, and would recommend it to anyone.

I was quite disappointed in the fairways and greens
I played here in the fall and it was in great shape.
I'm not sure what happened since than. Fairways were all hardpan. Greens very rough' cost us a few strokes. Weeds taking over everywhere. I guess they are just paying attention to the members course
I hope things get better here

This might be the only course in Houston area right now that your approach shot will plug if you hit your shot short of the green. Yes they are watering heavy and the condition of the course shows it. Great job by the Greens Keeper

I never played Meadowbrook before so had to try it out.
For the money I would go back to Cinco Ranch that is in Excellent condition when I played there last week

WE were not told about a tournament that was going on
We had to play the same 9 holes twice because of it.
Not what I was expecting.
When I asked the clubhouse guys about it they really didn't seem to care
Hopefully the new owners will turn this place around

Greens are about healed from aeration, rolling well even with some sand left
