I've been able to play this course several times now buying "Hotdeals" off of golf now. These deals have been the best value I've ever got off of golfnow for the past couple of years I've been a member. Every time I've played Blue Ridge Shadows I've played for $13.49 ($10 Hotdeal +taxes and fees).
I've enjoyed playing Blue Ridge Shadows every time for the course layout, staff friendliness, pace of play and of course the value! Giving the amount of rain we've had and it being winter the course is in good shape. It was cart path only and I only saw 3 other singles playing and one foursome during my round. It was great to have a day out on the course to myself and experience good golfing conditions, staff friendliness and even being able to tee off before my tee time. I need to add that I am most always early to any golf course and the times I've showed up to BRS they have offered to let me go out earlier than my tee time. The greens have been slow (it's winter) and I'm sure the greens keepers haven't been able to mow because of the amount of rain and snow we've had this winter. My experiences playing golf at Blue Ridge Shadows have been very enjoyable each time. I'm grateful to have been a member of Golfnow for a number of years so I can find these kind of deals and experience really good golf courses. My wife and I both had the day off and I decided to book us a tee time on Golfnow.com. I can't say enough how we really enjoyed our day together playing golf at White Plains. My wife is a beginner and I've been working with her mostly off of the course and this is a great course for me to bring her again to work on course play and management. The friendliness of staff and other golfers were astonishing. Living in northern Va/DC area people don't seem quite as friendly compared to my home where I was raised back in NC. It was about an hour drive each way (2hrs total) for us to play White Plains and was well worth the drive and money. The course was is ok shape but I can't complain for the rate we paid through Golfnow. Greens were in good shape even though it seemed I repaired 5-10 divots every green where others weren't. It seems that I've been having to do this everywhere I've been playing not just White Plains. I will def return to play this course again simply for the reason of the staff and other golfers being so friendly. Also the pro shop had some really great deals on clubs, shoes and apparel. They had Nike rain suits for $130! Oakley shoes (closeouts) for $50! I will probably return to buy the Cleveland sand wedges they have which are the lofts I've been looking for (54 & 58 degrees). They were willing to negotiate a price on these wedges which shows me that they want business. My wife and I really enjoyed our afternoon spent out at White Plains. Thanks to all of the staff there! I really enjoyed my round on a breezy Friday at Goose Creek. I teed off around 1:10pm and checked in aroun noon. The gentleman that checked me (wish I could remember his name/had a British accent) was one of the most pleasant guys I've ever met at any golf course. We had a very nice conversation. All of the staff were very courteous. The pro on duty took time to discuss my "Tarheels" (was sporting my UNC hat).
The course has a great layout and we played from the white tees(5900+). We were thinking about playing the blue tees but only one of us 3 had played this course before(2 other singles joined me). Plus the wind was steady at 20mph with 30mph gusts. Good thing even at 5900+yrds it was challenging enough for a 12hcpr.
I fixed probably 4-5 unrepaired ball marks on all 18 greens during my round. The fairways were in great shape. If I could make a suggestion it would be to remind everyone playing to repair their own ball marks. I would hate to see these greens go bad because of laziness. The pace of play was around 4 hrs and 15mins and it seems that everyone was really focused on getting their round done quickly. A reminder might help prevent this from happening. I've played Bristow Manor many times over the past 5-6 years and this course is in the best shape I've ever seen!
The greens keeper "Benny" needs to be working at Augusta National. From the tee box all the way to the greens the course was in fabulous shape. The value is unbeatable for northern Va! Tuesdays are called "$22 Tuesdays" (this includes a cart). I'm off work every other Tues and my plan is to play this course on my Tuesdays off!

This is a par 3 golf course and is perfect for practicing short and a few long irons. Greens were bumpy and appeared to have just been aerated probably a few weeks ago. I found this "hot deal" for $12 (walking). The staff were friendly and pace of play was unreal! I teed off around 9:30a (tee time was booked for 10:16a) and was done in just over 2 hours. This is a perfect practice course to go and play after working a night shift. Even though I have a par 3 course less than 15 mins from my house it was well worth the money to drive 35 mins to play a course for this money. I'm sure the greens will be in much better shape after another week. Tim Hayes

Due to the snow and rainfall that has occurred if found the course to be in good shape. It was cart path only and the course did have soggy spots on almost every hole. As stated we've had an unusual amount of snow and rain this year.
I love playing this golf course especially since they did some updates. Once everything dries up I'm certain that this course will be in fabulous shape like it was back in the fall. I've found it to be the best course around northern VA for the money. Especially when you can grab a "hot deal" off of golfnow.com! It still is the best course around for the money even at the normal rate.
The staff were friendly and the accommodations were as equal. We stopped at the turn and had a hotdog and some home made chips! The facility was is in great shape and I would recommend this course to everyone that loves a great round of golf. Tim Hayes

The course was in good shape considering all of the rain and cold weather we've had (cart path only) guess God had a plan for me to get alittle exercise ;) Found a great "hot deal" on golf now and got paired with some really nice guys. We had a blast! Love the layout of the south riding golf course. Will definitely refer to a friend and be bad playing there soon.
