Better than the past.

During the past couple of years I have been quite critical the overall condition of this course. Yesterdays experience was a great improvement. Greens and “T” boxes have been improved as have certain cart paths. This course has the potential of being the best course in the panhandle. It’s got a ways to go yet however improvements are very noticeable! Don’t stop now folks. You are on the right track!

Competitive Course

I have played Cypress many times over the past several years. Parking really sucks. The fairways are in better shape but still need improvements. The “T” boxes show improvements and some have been re-sodded as you tee off on a few temporary ones. “T” boxes have always been a real gripe with me. Never will understand why courses make them so small, especially for the par 3’s since they (and the greens) get the most pressure. I would guess the management of this course probably never play here because if the did they would have completely removed ALL the cart paths and put in new ones. Probably why they haven’t painted blue, white and red markers on the cart paths. They are deplorable.and some are dirt pathways. I can imagine the beating the golf carts must take…that’s how bad they are. I avoid them. If you are playing this course for the first time directional markers as to where to go to the next “T” are lacking. The layout of this course is beautiful…it’s one saving grace.

Needs Improvement

Course was in fair to good condition. “T” s were in ok shape however many appeared like they had not been watered in a while. One of my biggest complaints is the “postage stamp” size of the “T”s. All of the asphalt cart paths need replaced. Some cart paths leading off a T are dirt while others were gravel (pitiful). They need better directions to the next hole as for the first timer here it can be confusing. Restroom facilities on the course are lacking and of the two one is hidden and not marked. The course is well laid out, some water but not over abundant. Drainage issues on a couple of holes. Wish I had the money to purchase this course....I could turn this hidden beauty into the #1 course in the panhandle. It’s amazing to me that we do not have a class A course in all the Pensacola area. A new well paid grounds superintendent is needed and put some money into course improvements.

Great Play

The course was in pretty good shape. There were areas of fairway and rough that need serious attention. Golf cart paths are in need of repairs and one in particular that was in really poor condition. Couldn’t hardly drive the cart on the gravel/dirt path. I think the course needs a new grounds keeper or an influx of money for upkeep of the course.

A course everyone should play.

I have played here often over the years. Overall Course conditions were very good. Many areas of the rough along and close to the fairways were lacking good “rough grass” and a few fairways need attention (skimpy grass areas) This course has improved however has a ways to go. Would be disappointed if I had to constantly pay “regular green fees” or was a member. Never could understand why courses are built with narrow and/or shallow “T” boxes. Widen them; lengthen them. Excellent club house. 19th hole is great for post game relaxation.

18 Holes Friday and Cowded

Course was in very good shape.T boxes were a little small. Seems most courses seem to not see the importance
of larger T boxes..Most disappointing is the fact that the pro shop does not have a “map” or layout of the course. Not on their web site, not in the pro shop and nothing on the score card.
