Broad Run Golfer's Club
Played On 07/04/2020Excellent layout and great staff
Beautiful Rees Jones design. Bent grass tee boxes, fairways and green. All in excellent shape. Very friendly staff. Excellent, challenging layout, very nice greens. Not a walkable course at all, so don’t go there looking for that. I can’t wait to play it again!
River Marsh Golf Club - Hyatt Chesapeake Bay
Played On 09/28/2014Great Course Great Value
The Course at the Hyatt is very well maintained, with wonderful bent grass tees, fairways and greens. the bunkers are full of soft, pure white sand. The staff, unlike most places, actually seem to be glad to see you and are very friendly.
Hunters Oak Golf Club - Old Course
Played On 09/21/2014New Ownership has ruined the place
The new ownership, a clueless husband and wife, bought this course on the advise of their accountant, or so I am told. They new and know nothing about golf, and had no money left over to run a golf course. They have a bare staff, which is just enough to keep the grass cut. They have hired a superintendent, but the damage from years of neglect will be costly to overcome. The back nine has been abandoned and it is not playable. These geniuses decide to reopen the adjoining parkland course, which was a dull, uninspiring course back when it was in top shape. I honestly don't know what they are thinking, but they need to sell to someone who know what they are doing. They are only charging $15-$20, and no one is ever out there, so it is a good place to practice, but the conditions are so abysmal you can't really play an actual round.
Executive at Hog Neck Golf Course

An interesting course with a Jekyll and Hyde front and back nine. The front is open, with water on 8 holes. The back is tree lined with tight fairways. The biggest issues I have are pace of play. As a muni there are often numerous golfers who have little or no experience, and are not familiar with etiquette. It took the group in front of us 15 minutes to play the first hole! I'm also not a big fan of Bermuda grass, especially in the dormant season, which here is very long. Government employee staff treats you like your at the MVA.,
