Blown Away!

Arrived at the course to find I'd booked the wrong day, but thanks to great customer service by Sean in the Pro Shop, we were able to play at the time we booked.

The course was in good shape, nice fairways and tricky greens made more difficult by the very strong wind. A slight disappointment were the bunkers, which were compacted by recent rain.

The course was very quiet, we only saw about four other groups.

We did not try the clubhouse but would love to return and play in better weather.

Disappointed

I have spent some time debating whether to write this review or not, but eventually decided to go ahead with it.

I got a good deal from this site and was very satisfied with that. I arrived early at the course - as a single player I have found I can occasionally slip in ahead of larger groups. I got a luke warm welcome in the pro shop, no buggies were available at the time and was advised to stick to my booked tee time as there was a lot of four balls ahead of me. OK, not really a problem with the buggy but it was over 35C that day, so took plenty of water, and there was a halfway house.

After a drink in the very nice spike bar, I went to hit a few putts, I could see the last four ball, in buggies, ahead of me was started about 30 minutes ahead of my tee time. The starter then disappeared for 20 minutes and on his return, yet another four ball arrived - on talking to them we had been given the same start time! Fortunately they were very gracious and allowed me to play first.

The course looked stunning from the first tee, but I found, as usual, following societies/large groups, fairway divots, unraked bunkers and lots of pitch marks on the greens. For a Championship course, I was underwhelmed by its condition.

Playing by myself I caught up with the society/group by the 7th and could see that the groups ahead were backing up. As I had a lead on the group behind me I waited on the 8th tee to let the group finish before playing on. On getting to the 9th tee, I could see up the hill to the 10th tee and saw 4 buggies waiting there. With the group ahead of me just moving up to that tee, I knew I was in for a considerable wait on the back 9.

With the heat and the state of the course, I was already contemplating walking in. This decision was confirmed when I completed the 9th and walking up to the 10th tee, saw a senior 2 ball heading to join the queue ahead of me. At my home course, we have a rule, vigorously enforced, that no starts the back 9 if any player is on any part of the 9th hole.

I gave up and walked off - I felt that I would have been wasting my time in speaking out at the pro shop as I was a single visitor at such a course.

I spent a few moments in the wonderful locker room cooling off before leaving, unlikely to return.

Recommended Course near Wolverhampton

Got a great price from Golf Now website after wanting to play here for a few months.

Nice warm welcome from the pro shop and advised about the practice facilities and when I could tee off. A course guide was available and this is a plus for me as I like souvenirs of where I've played.

The course is parkland and it was nice to play a clockwise course, meaning all my drives stayed within the course!

Pace of play was excellent as the course was quiet when I started. I rarely had to wait on any shot until the last few holes but still completed in a decent time.

The greens had been tined recently but generally played well. Fairways were in good condition but I can't comment on the bunkers.

Unfortunately I had no time to check out the 19th hole but would love to return.

Well Worth a Visit

Having got a hot deal for this course, I was very happy with my deal.

On arrival at the well equipped pro shop, I got a friendly welcome and guidance on the course geography. I was also advised that the greens were starting maintenance and would be slow and bumpy -they were OK though.

The course was quite quiet, my only hold ups were where the green staff were working and I had a number of apologies for holding me up! But that just enabled me to enjoy the scenery.

A nice selection of holes with a sprinkling of water features.

All in all, it was well worth the visit and I'd like to return,

A Course of 2 parts

I visited North Cliff with a friend who has moved to the area and who is seeking a new club.

The booking was easy though the site and we got a Hot Deal at about 50% of the usual green fee.

On arrival the Pro Shop was easily seen, and the Pro was welcoming and gave us some great advice on the course, and a code to access the locker room. This was tidy and very welcome with lockers for visitors.

The 1st tee is spectacular with views over the sea to the castle. A strong westerly wind was challenging for those with a 'power fade' drive.

The first 2 and last 3 holes are played on the cliff side of the main road, The remainder of the holes are on a parkland style area which is reminiscent of Portugal with the pine tree fringed fairways.

Spectacular views abound, but with a 4 to 5 club wind, playing was a challenge.

Pace of play was not really an issue as the course was quiet. Preferred lies were in operation, but the fairways were dry and in excellent condition. Greens and approaches had been deep tined about 10 days previously, we had been advised, but they were varied in their playability.

The clubhouse offered a good choice of drinks and offered great views over the bay.

I'd love to return in less challenging conditions.

Nice Course

Nice welcome in Pro Shop and advised that greens were being fertilized. They had also recently been tined, but were very playable.

Front 9 and last 2 holes are played on the coastal side, with the remainder being more parkland in style.

Course was very quiet so no problem with pace and once we'd oriented ourselves got round quite well - we were unsure of where the 8th fairway ran but this was not an issue.

Did not visit the club house but others on the course were very friendly.

Nice Parkland Course

I visited Kidderminster as my home course is on a maintenance week, and got a nice deal from this site, £20 instead of the usual £40.

I got a nice welcome from the pro shop, they were engaging and gave me great information on getting started on the course - it was my first visit.

Practice facilities were a quirky but small putting green and a net, which I could not find. Course maintenance was active, but unobtrusive and there was a local preferred lie rule in place.

The fairways showed evidence of the hot summer, they were patchy and very firm. The greens were fast and true, a delight to putt on and were comparable to the practice area.

The course was fairly quiet so pace of play was good and I had no real hold ups.

I found some of the cross fairways and tees a bit confusing, a map on the scorecard could have helped. The 18th is a daunting drive across a local road and into a good wind - a birdie to finish was the icing on the cake.

Great Greens

Played this course for an amazing £10 green fee. The course was very wet in places and it was frustrating that there was no local lift, clean and place rule as I had mud balls a number of holes.

The greens were in tremendous condition, very fast and with tricky slopes. I found it strange that several pitch marks could be found for repair on each green,

Pace of play was generally good. The par 3s on the back 9 were beautifully framed.
