Just not great

Poor dormant conditions everywhere including greens. Bad unfair layout. Tiny major slope greens tucked behind bunkers. Not fun.

Will not go again

Drove 80 minutes to try this place and wish I didn’t go. Price was about double the true value.

Design is very poor with holes squeezed in half the acreage as normal course. Some tee boxes are 20 feet from the next tee on consecutive holes.. Other tees required the approaching group on previous hole to drive through the next tee sight line.

Had a Marshall playing in group behind us on a 3 hour pace (we were on 3.5) and could hear him complaining entire round. We waited in group in front most holes. Felt rushed and picked up on several holes to speed play.

All bunkers are complete wash outs. Greens are tiny and had been sanded and punched days prior without pre reservation comment. Weeds and non golf grass everywhere, in prime fairway areas. Other places hard as concrete in prime fairway position. To set tee in ground, bring your hammer.

Many holes had houses built right against course and lots were .2 acres at best (very dense build out up against course).

Oh and mosquitos plentiful. Save your money.

Old favorite needs some attention.

For months have tried to get back to play a round here. Was a perineal favorite years ago. This place has tons of tournaments so plan accordingly.

Usually a single walk on is considered a valuable contributor to course operations. For many reasons, including optimized cart usage and revenue to fill out short show foursomes. Here they penalize a single. Though the online tee time page, you can book a discounted tee time as twosome or more. A single can't book with the same avenue and will be charged full $80 price. Shop staff says that is by design.

Fosters layout is challenging and memorable. Conditions through the green are good to great. A few blind shots and hidden creeks make prior rounds helpful. Rely on the gps. Front nine has super tight tee shots and thigh high brush or forest if you miss. The greens were bent grass years ago. They have switched to a tif version and played poorly this day. They were aerated recently no had not been mowerd in days. Made recovery and scoring putts limited. Bunker play is likely so feel good as they have the "good sand". The corse stuff that provides spin and rarely plugs.

For service, the cart staff are great. Cart pick up car side. Low cart battery on course deployed replacement cart without having to call.

Glad I went but wish price issue and greens were better.

Not a 4 star course

Chose Sanctuary Ridge due to the rating...not a 4 star course. I am giving the lowest score of 1 star. We played in 3.5 hours and was told to pick up the pace. Sand is everywhere and not good condition. I would call it playground sand vs something appropriate for a golf course. No one rakes sand as locals simply rake and place every time. Deep ravines, and plenty of up and down holes (not in a good way). Firm and slow greens, blind shots. Meal was best part of day. Don't make plan to use the disgusting shower. Save your money and try another course. Pay for what you get. Course is for the locals and it shows.

Super Small greens, Great service

If you play CG International, beware of the super small greens. Pick a tee box that is at least 500 yards shorter than normal as the green sizes are surprisingly small. For example, try hitting a 220yd par 3 tee shot to a green the size of your living room surrounded by several sand traps and water. Plus the wind is likely blowing 25+. Course conditions were slightly better than average and waste bunkers were out-of-play that day. But customer service and facilities were top notch. Perhaps a bit pricey for clubhouse items ($3.75 for coffee, $75+ for golf shirt). Found a green fee deal TeeTimes.com. Glad I went but would have regretted if paid the >$100 price.

Nice Resort but Overpriced

Mid Day tee time was still well over $100. Course was good design but heard Panther was better. So I chose wrong. Greens good for Tif Eagle but far from exceptional. Fairways were super thin with tight lies most of the day. If Price was an indicator of quality, I would say this one would be around $60 if not in a resort town. IMO not a top 100 course.

Nice resort course.

Very nice resort course. Conditions were good even with aerated greens 2 weeks prior. Fairly flat compared to courses I played on Maui. Little pricey as still over $100 for afternoon round. Spouse rider fee is a turn-off.

Needs improvement

Played many times here and conditions about the same. This time winter greens okay but very little grass on fairways. Although dormant, they rarely produced a decent lie, and doubtful if better in growing season. Very firm packed clay. No divots unless you wanted to break something. Created terrible chipping conditions.

Wind is always a factor here so plan accordingly with tee box choice. At least 20mph always.

Facilities and carts very nice. We did not purchase anything. Course was mostly empty so 3 hour round.

One day they will have something...but not yet.

Greens are the best part

Hard to find bent grass greens now days. A pleasant surprise. They were better on the back nine, mainly due to front is built in a flood plain/swamp. Found it to be very overgrown around the edges and snakes were a threat. Front nine was very soft in the early morning as footprints and dents were visible everywhere. Back nine more of a parkland layout. Overall a good time that met my expectations. Short par 5s. Helpful to have someone along to describe where to hit. 3 stars, which could of been 4 if not concerned about snakes and overgrowth.

Great design

Great design as many holes are directly on the lake. Could use more aiming items (bolders, tree rings, etc). Do have 150 poles in fairway. Greens were fairly brown the day I played but held well and putted okay. Roads to get to the place are fairly rough shape so take it slow. .

Hidden gem

What a great surprise. Jim and the staff were great and the course was well conditioned. Plus the bent grass greens were as good as any I've seen in DFW in years. I will be back!!

Greens were very good. If they would cut a little lower, they would be excellent but I would give 4 stars compared to other courses in the area.

If greens would be cut a little lower, they would be excellent but I would give 4 stars compared to other courses in the area. Fairways just punched but very playable. This will help them from being baked and firm later in the summer. I love the challenge to this course. Smallish greens and all on plateaus. Better be accurate as missed greens bring on many bogeys.

Would have had more fun if not 37 degrees at tee time.

Very cold morning. Rented clubs which could use some improvement (especially driver and grips). Course was fun and challenging. Everyone says the elevation changes are surprising and they are right. But not too many talk about the pitched greens. I only counted 3 greens with normal breaks. The others are severe to overly severe. Greens rolled true and for sure had the typical florida grain...so pay attention. Lot's of ponds that were super low which would have made the postcard more memorable. But overall had a great time and would play again if I had my own clubs.
