Tough economy

This place is definitely feeling the effects of poor management, poor greens keeping, and mismanagement of their members funds. They mowed the tiff eagle greens too high, and then finished by cutting a circle around the green that was lower then the rest of the green, like an impromptu 2nd fringe? The asphalt fairway bunkers looked like they haven't been edged or raked since the last time I played there two years ago. It seemed the only holes that looked "groomed" were the ones near the clubhouse, for curbside appeal I guess. The men's locker room had more lockers then my college did, and can't understand how more money went into the locker room then course upkeep. The same can be said for the golf carts, they looked better then the course. The driving range was located near a busy roadway and the landing area for the range balls was like a hay field, I was waiting to see a wild pig run by. The ball was just consumed in the grass, much like the grass off the fairway. The course wasn't challenging in the design, but more finding a decent lie and a patch of fairway that wasn't all weeds or compacted dirt. If you can get at least 250 with your driver, you have a chance at birdie on every par 4 hole. The woman's tees were a mound of sand with two colored boxes indicating their spot. The water coolers looked like something from a horror movie, you had to stick your hand up a weathered piece of wood, and hope a spider didn't bite you, or you don't get pricked by a rusty nail, or get a splinter. And finally, for some reason, you have to add your own water to the ball washers as all of them were bone dry. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO TO A BETTER COURSE!!!!

great course, grounds crew could be more vigilant with the upkeep, seems to have diminished a bit since the last time I played.

Postage Stamp Greens

Your dilemma- you want to play but you don't have 4-5 hrs to do so.... Fashion Golf and Country club is your answer. This is a 9-hole course, that will challenge your short game and putting abilities. The course is well kept and the greens were SUPRISINGLY all bermuda grass, not weeds or dirt, and very few divot marks even. They are probably smaller then the the size of your living room, and as sloped as a three legged table, but worth the challenge. Took three hours on the dot to play 18 on a Wednesday morning. The bunkers were "fluffed" not hard-packed. The tee areas were somewhat overgrown, but level. For a "goat grass" course it wasn't bad.

Louisiana experiance

For a local yokel course its decent. Its not a five star course like TPC Louisiana, Carter Plantation, Aubudon, or any other on the Louisiana golf trail. However if you are appreciative of the unique wildlife in the area you'll enjoy the course. Fairways were hard packed, greens were ok.

Plugs

This course is a gem in the area near the Navy base. it's a 27 hole course and very well laid out. The upside is free range balls before and after your game, and two putting practice areas. the downside, no drivers on the range, the bunkers are hard packed dirt holes, some of the tee boxes could be evened out, its an odd feeling not driving off a level surface. on this particular day, they just got done with punching the greens, so they were bumpy. But a fun time.

NOLA GEM

The rain slowed play down a bit, but this is an ideal place to play during the week. On the weekends its busy. The solar powered orange carts are well equipped and a good change of pace of the standard white carts. The cart path only rule really helps keep this course in top condition. A lot of par threes and a lot of birdie and eagle opportunities. The only downfall is that this course doesn't have a practice facility, just a putting green.
