You can't be serious!

We played this morning, and the greens were really bad. They hadn't been mowed, and appeared to have been aerified recently, so they were basically unplayable. They probably should have told us that, or offered a slight discount for the inconvenience. It's a decent layout, but the greens need to be MUCH higher on their list of priorities! Just my two cents ($30, actually).

Right Up There with the Best

Great course, great day - got there a little early, very nice practice facility and putting green to warm up. The golf pro, Steven, could not have been nicer - went out of his way to help me and allowed me to start on the back nine, which saved an hour or more off my round. That was important because I drove over an hour from BHM to get there, and bad weather was coming. Course was primo condition, with smooth and fast greens - a LOT of character on this layout. If only I lived closer, ...

Surprised that this course is open for business

I made special arrangements to play here on my birthday this year, believing that it was a great value for the money. I read some of the reviews, and was excited to have the opportunity to play TGC. Quite frankly, this golf course should not be open. I was a class A member of the PGA for over 11 years, and I don't think I have ever seen a course in such poor condition. My intent is not to trash the place, but to warn others (who may not be aware) that the Tennesean Golf Club course is simply not playable in its present condition. Almost half of the fairways had little to no grass in the landing area. I won't belabor the point, but it's obvious that this place will be out of business soon if things don't get better in a hurry. I have to say in all honesty that the owner and / or management should be ashamed to collect money from people to play here. My wife was with me, or I would have gone back to the clubhouse and requested a refund after the second hole. I didn't want to make a scene, and it's not the fault of the hourly employees, but this is just bad business.

OK, but ...

Course was overly saturated from sprinklers (still running while we played at 7:45am!), and then was played as "cart path only" due to overseeding - the pro shop made sure to tell us that they "would be patrolling" to ensure strict compliance. A few nice holes, but nothing truly memorable. WAY too wet - a long, sloppy walk.
