Went on a Saturday midday. The pace of play was very slow and the course was very sloped, including the greens. On the fourth hole, we noticed there were 5 carts on the 9th tee box.
Shirt's were worn not tucked in and some tee-shirts were worn. Not exactly a classy look for a golf course. It seems like a local's course. I'm glad I checked it out, but have the expectations of a nice, average public course located in a very out-of-the-way location.

Got to get out at a great time, a couple let us play through, and we had a great pace for the round. Unexpected. The layout is so spectacular and scenic. Conditions were great. They had just punched the greens but they still rolled fine.

There is a reason they play a PGA tour event here!

Loved the first nine we played. It was after a soaking rain but the holes were awesome. Then at the turn we waited over a half-hour for the groups to tee off on the other nine and the pace was a snail's pace. Loved the holes but nothing was done about the slow play. Frustrating.

Really liked the course, with some awesome holes and some pretty average holes. The pace of play was great on our front nine, but when we reached our back nine there was an added group in front of us. The pace of play ended up being okay, but it's frustrating to get backed up by unexpected groups half way into the round. The fairways were nice and the greens were very nice.

Only one or two other Myrtle Beach courses is as perfect as this exclusive course. The conditions were pristine, the staff was great, the experience could not have been better. The course is as plush as you can get. The new greens are phenomenal and ,the fairways play almost like greens. There are not many places I have seen like the Members Club. Awesome experience.

They just overseeded the tees and fairways were thin and not cut yet because the new grass was so young and damp, but the layout was great and had a blast playing.

Since it opened, we have made it a point to play every year and it was one of our favorite courses. This trip: It took 2 ½ hours to play our first 9. A large percent of the fairways were dead/ burnt out. The sand traps are being overgrown and not maintained at all. The heat index was over 90 degrees and there was no water at all on the course, and no cart/ beverage person. We left after 9 holes.
Lodestone used to be pristine and amazing. Now, it does not deserve it’s ranking and cannot justify the high greens-fee cost. Negligence and poor course maintenance has ruined what was a fantastic course. We used to refer friends to go, but we won’t be back.

Played during a dry-hot stretch of weather and loved the collection of holes. After playing it once, I think you can really make better decisions because the holes are typical Pete Dye and visually intimidating and confusing. Loved the course!

This mountain course is pristine, very scenic, very fun, and not very forgiving (just hit another if you stray from the short grass, because you'll never find balls off the mown areas!

You'll do some walking up and down even from the cart path to the greens. Glad I got to experience this course.

Had the good fortune to have my course pro call and arrange a tee time, and the course was in excellent shape and beautiful. Played a very quick round even though the course was packed. Staff were very nice and accommodating and couldn't have had a more enjoyable experience.

Loved the holes and the course!

It poured rain in the morning so we weren't sure we'd be able to play, but we actually were the first ones out after the rain and they still let us ride on the fairway's so it was a dream to just play at our pace.
The holes play just the right distance for the appropriate handicap and the holes are just excellent.
The course is very interesting and a pleasure to play and really top of the line in maintenance, layout, and condition. If you get the chance to play it - do!

We were looking for a course from DC to Bristol VA and this seemed to be a good option. It was. I had read that the white tee's were too long so we played the par 5's from the white and all the other holes from the gold and it was really fun. That made the yardage just under 6000 and gave us wedges for our second shots instead of fairway metals. Good shape.

A great collection of memorable holes and bentgrass tees, fairways, and greens. For me, this course should be up there with the best in the Washington area. The condition of the course is always excellent and the pace of play is great.

Old style layout where greens are next to tees. Great to walk and there are no houses inside the course. Very hilly and a great variety of holes. Excellent conditions and just a pleasure to play!

Big, burly mountaintop course with great conditions and a great layout. Doesn't get much play and it is costly-but worth the greens fee! I hope it does well because it is a pleasure to play.
