Great Eagle Golf Club
Played On 02/12/2019Great Potential
From what I was told, this course has had its share of difficulties and is trying work its way back. I have played it a couple of times now, and have come to appreciate it more each time. First, the course layout is awesome - in its prime, this course could compete. I has character and personality: undulating greens, strategically placed bunkers/water, and framed by creative mounding give it the appeal you want in a golf course. The management is putting the money they do have in the right places. The tee boxes, greens and fairways are in good shape, very playable. Once you get off the fairway, that is a different story. We have found that playing preferred lies, especially in the rough (just off the fairway and around the greens) makes the round much more enjoyable. The driving range/ practice area are also a little rough to be kind, but those can get attention once the rest of the course is back up to par.
In short, if you are looking for a resort style course with great amenities, perfect conditions, beautiful views... then skip this one.
If you want a good course at fantastic pricing, then you have found a new gem for your rotation.
South Golf Course at Granite Falls Golf Club
Played On 11/09/2017Resort Course Wannabe
This course (as well as all SCG) holds its own against most courses in Phoenix. First is the wow factor with all the water features, especially hole 18. The course was is in great condition, even coming out of over seeding. Its desert style, with wide fairways mimics most resort courses.
Only complaint - members don't fix ball marks. There were some greens that had close to 50+ pitch marks.
Take pride people, it is not the responsibility of the maintenance crew.
La Cantera Resort - The Palmer Course
Played On 02/18/2017Great Course for the Price
Play a lot of destination golf, and this course is always on the list when my wife and I visit Hill Country. Great design, always in great shape, price is always competitive, great value, and the view from the 19th hole is great. Any picture you see of this place is no exaggeration. A San Antonio must play
Arrowhead Golf Club
Played On 06/27/2015Great to show off
One of the most scenic courses you may ever play. Course was in better shape than I have ever remembered, and they hive kicked it up a notch with the staff (multiple bag boys and help around the course and clubhouse). Great place to take someone for brownie points
Ute Creek Golf Course
Played On 06/15/2014Still one of the better courses around
Good course that can challenge you depending on the tee box you with to play. The greens did run well on the parts that weren't beat up by ball marks not repaired. Staff was extremely friendly.
Applewood Golf Course
Played On 06/09/2014Fun Track
Although not a championship course, there are enough holes that are just fun. From driveable par 4s, doglegs that make you get creative. A great course for a scramble. For the money, a good course when you are not looking for great test.
Plum Creek Golf & Country Club
Played On 05/31/2014putting money where it counts
I've read the other reviews, and agree with some. Yes, the course is hurting for money. But in their defense, they are putting the money they have towards the golf course. The course was in great shape. The only drawback was that the greens were slow.
But for those of you bashing the course for paint chipping, or parking lot cracks, go back to your high dollar country clubs and $$$ initiation fees. If you're about golf, this place is worth the trip
Twin Peaks Golf Course

Always in great shape. Not overwhelming, but mounds around the greens will test your short game on misses. Green conditions are always wonderful - slopes, and speed make putting challenging.
