The BOG
Played On 06/05/2016A top-level course no doubt
This was my second time playing The Bog - first was last November and then this June in a scramble event.
The pace of play was fairly typical for a scramble, so no concerns there, however last November when I played it was on the slower side - one potential cause of that was everyone pushing up due to losing sunlight.
The course conditions are excellent, and I would rate this course as very similar to The Bull just north in Sheboygan Falls.
Riverdale Country Club
Played On 06/03/2016Course is improving
There is new ownership this year at Riverdale, and the change is already noticeable. The greens are improved, fairways and rough cut correctly, giving the course a refreshed look and feel.
Overall it's a local course that has some unique holes, such as the very reachable par 4 4th and No. 9, which goes over a pond with a fountain in the middle.
I don't play this course as much as I did when I was younger and just starting out, but with the improvements that have been made, I'll be sure to play it a time or two each summer going forward.
Autumn Ridge Golf Course
Played On 05/31/2016A course for the accurate golfer
Autumn Ridge - which features a weekday special of $39 which includes 18 holes, a cart, a sandwich and drink - is known for elevation changes, twists and turns and narrow approaches.
Significant elevation changes come into play on Nos. 1, 3, 8, 9, 11, 15 and 18. Narrow openings abound - especially Nos. 9, 10 and 12.
I enjoy the challenge this course offers, however the day we played the greens felt incredibly slow - though that may be a product of having played The Bull (Sheboygan Falls, WI) recently and not adapting.
For the price and the overall course condition, this is one of the best deals I've found in the area.
Bull at Pinehurst Farms
Played On 05/25/2016One of the best courses in Wisconsin
I'm a 50/50 member at The Bull, which is one of the best golf deals you can get in the area. This course is a top-notch facility that is on par with the nearby Kohler courses.
The course features some outstanding stretches of holes, particularly Nos. 5-8 and Nos. 16-18.
Included in your greens fees are use of the practice facilities (range, chip/putting greens) and a cart with GPS.
Fire Ridge Golf Club
Played On 11/09/2015Finally got my chance to play here
I live in Sheboygan and regularly head south down I-43 to Milwaukee, always passing Fire Ridge in Grafton and wondering what the course was like. Last November, I finally was able to find a time that worked for me to head down and get a round in.
For it being early November in Wisconsin, the course was in great shape and the weather was perfect.
The course is a touch easier than others such as The Bog or The Bull, but the greens are fast and there are difficult shots to be had throughout.
I was very impressed with the course and will definitely be back again this year.
We are so glad you finally stopped in to play a round at our course and that we have impressed you at that! Thanks so much for the 5 star review. We're looking forward to having you back!
