Creek at Indian Creek Golf Course
Played On 06/04/2022Good course - tough greens
Love playing this course. The layout is good and they take care of the course. It’s tough from the back. The pro shop people are really friendly and accommodating. Would recommend.
Tour 18 Dallas
Played On 06/02/2022Has not improved
I played yesterday. Over the years I’ve heard people say the course is in bad shape, they are correct.
I love the layout. The amenities are really good. But the bunkers are not maintained and the pictures speak for the greens. I asked the pro shop when the pin positions are, he said anywhere they could find grass.
I really don’t understand why they don’t take care of their greens. The weekend rates are $125 and it is so not worth it.

Played On 04/28/2021Super layout
This course is really nice and really hard! Great conditions and reasonably priced given the area.
So much sand on every hole and really tough holes. You absolutely need to pick the right tee box based on your skill and probably go one box forward. Do not try to carry bunkers off the tee unless you are certain or you I’ll be penalized. The layout is incredible, if you play within your means and play smart, you can score.
Really friendly staff, good proshop and bar. Would definitely recommend.
Ocotillo Golf Club - White/Gold
Played On 04/27/2021Lots of water
I played 2 rounds this past week. It did not start week, the, person in the pro shop was extremely unfriendly. I’m not sure if he thought I was a local (was not) but he treated me like I knew when I was going and was really condescending when I asked for clarification. A really bad experience.
The course layout had an extreme amount of water, almost every hole. Not hard, you just need to, know where to go. It was a good layout. Totally overrun with birds, goose and ducks , poop everywhere. Greens were firm and rolled well. Tee boxes were in bad shape.
It was an ok experience. The bar was good, friendly staff and decent food.
Probably would not play again if I had the chance. The pro shop guy really ruined it for me.
The Reserve Vineyards & Golf Club - North Course
Played On 02/18/2020Really really wet
We were on our way to Bandon Dunes so we had an extra day. We chose this course based on the reviews it was a total sloppy mess. We were losing balls a yard off the fairway. Our shoes were sinking almost an inch into the slop. It’s not the courses fault, the layout was great but conditions were horrible.
It would have been nice if the proshop would have informed us.
La Cantera Golf Club
Played On 08/05/2019Excellent Course
Played her last week for 3 days and absolutely loved it. So much better than the Palmer course, which I would totally avoid. I stayed at the JW Marriott, which wanted $225 to play the courses in 100 degree heat. I've played them both several times, not worth it.
La Cantera Resort has lots of elevation (I walk all the courses i play, this is probably one of the toughest walks). The layout was really interesting, but in a good way. The course is in front of you, so no hidden or blind shots. A really great course.
The restaurant (254) was outstanding, the food was great and the beer selection is the best I've seen at a golf course.
Cinnamon Hill Golf Course at Rose Hall
Played On 07/05/2019Tougher than it looks
So I played the course in July which is probably not the best time of year. It was somewhat burnt conditions, the greens looked slow but definitely are not, they are fast.
When I drove up the course looks wide open and easy, I was wrong on that too. The front is quite open but 20mph winds make it much more difficult. The back is super hard! 10 is an easy down hill, 11 is one of the most difficult greens you will putt. You are dead if you are above the hole.
Significant elevation changes on all holes on the back except 18 which is an easier par 5. Johnny Cash has a house on 14, it’s a museum now which is quite cool.
This course is much better that I initially thought. I played it 4 days in a row and really enjoyed it. A couple points.
- I got a tee time at 11, I was early (945) and the clubhouse guy said, pay me $35 and you can go now or you will wait until 11. The course was empty, that was really not cool.
- My caddie was named Garnett and he was excellent. I had him all 3 days and I would highly recommend.
- I’m typically quite straight with my shots and I lost a couple balls on the back. Be prepared.
Liked the course a lot.
SilverRock Resort
Played On 08/09/2018Great Layout
Loved the layout, really interesting. The backdrop against the mountains is super cool, never seen a course like this. Its tough but its fair, really enjoyed it. You must keep the ball in the fairway to get at the greens. Lots of carries over water.
This course is a must if you are in the area.
Mountain View at Desert Willow Golf Resort
Played On 08/08/2018Excellent Layout
Loved the course layout, very fair. Its not overly challenging for the better golfer. Its in really good condition for this time of year. The staff was really friendly as well. This is a really good option if you are in the area.
The Stadium Course at PGA WEST
Played On 08/06/2018Not for the average golfer
This is course is not meant for the average golfer. Very difficult holes, many forced carries, very deep rough in spots. I consider myself a better golfer and this course completely beat me up, and it was not fun. For example, lost a ball 2 feet off the fairway. The round was also very slow in 100 degree heat, and very bad bugs on the first 5 holes (bring spray if you are playing in the morning). The greens were recently punched so dont expect good roll on your putts, also many of the bunkers were not maintained. The course Marshall was not very friendly (The course was empty behind us so I started over after 8 since it was so slow in front of us. The starter obliged, but for some reason was totally annoyed when he saw me on 16 again. Not sure I understood what happened) .
I would have expected more from this course.
La Cantera Resort - The Palmer Course
Played On 07/22/2017It's just ok
Played here for the first time on Saturday and really didn't like it. The course is littered with blind shots and your are guessing. I suppose if I played this course a couple times I would change my rating but for a first timer it's not a great experience. Many of the tee shots are just silly, hitting up a hill.
The driving range is irons only, no ball washers on the course and the pace was slow. For $85 (I was staying at the resort) it's not worth it.
Trinity Forest Golf Club
Played On 06/28/2017Excellent Course
Let me start with really the only negative, it’s hard to find. There are no signs on Loop 12 saying “Welcome to Trinity Forest” but I expect this will get better. I got there about an hour before the tee time, me and my playing partner got a tour from one of the head pro’s. An amazing complex, 3 ranges, practice facility for SMU, a par 3 course and a championship course you will not find anywhere in Dallas. The SMU practice facility was something to behold, an amazing facility. After the tour, we met our playing partner (Garrison Marx, another pro), super guy, great player. The course is really something to behold, there is no rough, no tee boxes, just continuous fairways and large greens. There is some scrub on the side you need to stay out of, but your caddy will help with that. We played from the back (7150 yards), but the fairways are really hard and the ball rolls a long way, it probably plays about 300 yds shorter if its dry and not windy. The greens are also very tricky, most require you to hit to spots (again, the caddy helps) and always be short, being long is very penal. Our caddies were excellent as well.
Hope I can go back again one day, I got on through a friends reciprocal. If you ever have a chance to play it, you need to do it.
Coyote Ridge Golf Club
Played On 04/14/2017Quirky Layout - Unfriendly Staff
Its a odd layout, some short par 4's the par 5's are get able but the par 3's are really challenging (was impressed with the par 3's). Greens were really slow, but i was told thats not typical. I didn't appreciate the staff, at least the pro shop. When I asked to walk, they immediately said "no...do you want your money back". Not impressed. They seem to care more about their members, than the public. I suppose I understand but they could try to provide better customer service.
