Played On 10/29/2023wide open with rain
course is in top shape. drains well. started raining when i arrived. pre-paid and to late to cancel so out i went. Finished in 2 hours 15 minutes. Wet and cold shot best round at Westover in 20 years. Despite rain only 2 greens had slight puddling. I play there 2-3 times a year and the course is in great shape
Sandwich Hollows Golf Club
Played On 06/17/2023Different from most Cape courses
Still rough on the edges, new sand in the traps, cart paths need some attention. Lots of elevation change on some holes makes the course stand out from other courses on cape cod. Good food and drink in the clubhouse with friendly staff

The lack on rain is taking a bit of a toll on the fairways but I wouldn’t say it effected my round much. The greens were great! Old style course so not long but challenging enough with undulating greens.

Fun old style Donald Ross course.Greens were in excellent shape but the course conditions overall were poor. They seem to have given up on most of th traps. Support this course by paying them a visit! The course is challenging and fun to play.

Played On 05/30/2020One time gem
Rough was up to about 4 inches which made it tough to score well. Overall great course that is in desperate need of maintenance. Turf is in great shape is most places but some tee boxes have been left unmaintained. Clubhouse needs to be repaired or torn down. Great decision to list course on golf now. Once private most do not know it is open to public
Connecticut National Golf Club

Easily one of the best courses around. Mild winter allows playing with a cart. Greens are in great condition even with dormant grass.

A lot of nice holes in this course but fairway damage from last year's drought conditions need to be repaired. The greens are in great condition. I will continue visiting this course a few times a year because it is an enjoyable place to play.
Hickory Ridge Golf Club
Played On 06/22/2019Sadly the next solar farm
Nice challenging course with large greens. I figured something was up with the pricing $29 with cart all week long. The course will be full of solar panels soon apparently. I guess there is hope for a buyer to keep it a 9 hole course. Can golfers get paid reparations?
Agawam Municipal Golf Course
Played On 05/04/2019Wet like everywhere else
Greens were good but a lot of flooded areas. Feel lucky being able to play it with all the wet weather. Unfortunately seem some players were not abiding to the no cart areas. Great value for a fun little mini !

Course conditions were horrible. Dead and dying fairways. I have been coming here for years and have always looked forward to playing here because it was a nice track. Not anymore

Played On 10/06/2015Some great Ross holes
Nice course with personality issues. Original 9 hole Donald Ross course that was made into an 18 using Cornish to complete the job. I really wish Cornish kept the Ross style when completing the course. 15-18 seem like you left and are at another course. Long holes with huge greens that didn't keep the Ross style of smaller, domed or heavily contoured greens that you'll find on the front 9. Other than that the course has a few issues with limited irrigation, so if its been dry and hot you might find the fairways a bit baked but the greens are always good here. Worth a visit.

1st course this year that i was disappointed in the conditions, hardpan and dead grass, great for long drives. greens were ok. played north to middle 9's. they need to re-evaluate the policy of leaving a license when you get a cart. only a few places do this and with todays id theft issues who wants to leave their license.

The course seems to get better every year. Most everything was in real good condition. Almost all signs of winter kill are gone. The holes with the newest greens (14 & 15) are in great shape. The traps have what i call street sand in them but they were raked and played well. One thing that might be a negative to some folks is the noise from the track, they had motorcycles racing on the road track. I think of it as background noise and it didn't bother me.
Bethlehem Country Club
Played On 06/08/2015Early Ross Course
An interesting short course especially if you are into playing Donald Ross courses. This 1909 course is an early Ross Design and was his 1st in NH. Short par 4's and a long par 3, only one forced carry off the tee and small undulating greens are found here which is typical of his design. The course was in ok shape after a tough winter but it should improve as the year goes by. The greens were medium-slow and the grass in the fairway was thin but velvety soft. A good course for high handicappers and beginners though not much of a challenge to good players. Its still a fun course i'd play again
Maplegate Country Club
Played On 4/16/2013Great Layout - poorly maintained
This course used to be one of the best around but its high price kept me from playing it often. Played it April 16th which is still early in the season so I wasn't expecting great conditions but what I found was discouraging. The greens had thin spots (not snow mold) with little grass in spots. The fairways were in rough shape with lots of divots and thin spots and the edges aka rough had alot of bare areas. Looks like damage or wear you'd see on an old overgrown course where tto many trees do not allow grass to grow. The $35 Golfnow price was ok but the normal $69 to play this place will leave you disappointed and not ever wanting to return.
Wahconah Country Club
Played On 10/8/2012Top 10 in state.
Wahconah Country Club – We played Wahconah after warming up at the nearby Bas Ridge course. First some history; Wahconah is expensive and I figured it would be one of the last courses I played as I strive to complete my goal of playing every course in Massachusetts. It’s $72 to walk and I have never found a reduced rate that would compel me to drive the 100 miles to play this course. They just recently were added to Golf18 and GolfNow websites. They were listed at different prices for different tee times throughout the day and when I saw it was only $35 for 18 with a cart at 12:45 PM I had to make plans to play it. We zipped around Bas Ridge in less than 3 hours and had almost 2 hours to kill if we waited for our tee time but we went straight to Wahconah and they let us right out which was cool. If I purchased the 11 AM tee-time it would have been $50 each. The course was opened in 1930 and is a Wayne Stiles design Geoff Cornish revamped it in 1961. It is only 6550 yards from the blues tees but has a slope of 135, so it is a difficult course to play. It is the last course Bobby Jones played a full round of golf at. When we drove up the clubhouse appearance at least from the road did not impress us. It looks like a bowling alley not what I’d expect from a top tier course. The pro-shop is small but functional and the restaurant and bar is nice. They have a good sized practice green right next to the 1st tee. The golf course, well it’s awesome. Excellent condition fast greens well maintained turf on the tees and fairways. The design is awesome and some local knowledge is needed to score well, tough play the first time, but once you see it you’ll know there are places that look innocuous from the tee you’ll wish you had aimed for the other side of the fairway or left it shorter or longer. An easy 4 stars here, the only itch I have is the lack of visible yardage markers, they have the traditional colored Frisbees at 100, 150 and 200 yards but they are hard to find because they are faded and getting grown in. At the discounted prices available now I’d list this as a must play and definitely pair it up with another western Mass course or activity it’s a long ride away.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, and we apologize for any inconvenience the rough edges and cart paths may have caused during your visit. We appreciate your compliments on our clubhouse staff and the unique elevation changes on some holes.
