Settler's Hill Golf Course
Played On 07/30/2018Has gone downhill
I play settlers every year, usually a couple of times. I grew up playing this course. Unfortunately, it’s in some of the worst shape I’ve seen it in years. Many of the fairways have large dead patches, the tee boxes are chewed up with divits, and even a few of the greens are beat up. One or two of the greens have large, brown dead patches of grass on them. Often, if you hit a fairway, you will end up on hay (they are trying to regrow grass in some spots) or just mud. I love the layout of the course and love how challlenging the back nine is, but it really was a disappointment to see how bad of shape the course is in. Still might play for under $30, but any more than that and I would be upset is spent the money.
Blackberry Oaks Golf Club
Played On 07/07/2018Great course, worth the drice
First time playing here. Loved the course and the layout. It’s about an hour trip for me to get there but it was well worth it. The course was in great shape. It’s fairly challenging, especially the par 3s. I will definitely be back.
Fox Run Golf Links
Played On 07/05/2018Nice Course
For a public, miminicipal course it’s in great shape. Challenge layout. It felt like two different courses. The front 9 was not as challenging as the back, but all of it was in great shape. Will definitely be back.
Woodruff Golf Course
Played On 09/17/2016Short, but still a fun course
The course itself is fairly short, with no par 5s and a par of 68. The front nine is less exciting and easier than the back. The back nine is like a different course with lots off elevation changes. The entire course does pretty good job of making things difficult without having distance (all of the par 3s are in the 190 yard range). The course was in pretty good shape. we played in under 4 hours on a Saturday morning (we teed off before 7am). For the price we paid (under $30) I would definitely be back.
Settler's Hill Golf Course
Played On 07/13/2016Nice course with a more challenging back 9
Not a bad course with a good mix of elevation changes and hazards. The front 9 is more simple, the back 9 has a few more challenging holes. Can get a good deal during the week, slightly overpriced for the weekends. The course was in pretty good shape, especially the tee boxes and greens.
Make sure you buy water or Gatorade at the pro shop before you start. There was no beverage cart, it was near 90 degrees and extremly humind and there isn't a water cooler to be found anywhere on the course (pretty ridiculous).
The turn is after the 13th hole instead of the 9th.
Carriage Greens Country Club
Played On 07/10/2016Don't play on a Sunday
Took us 5.5 hours to finish 18 holes on a Sunday (We teed off around 11).While I fully expect a Sunday afternoon round to take a while. 5.5 hours is absurd. There were no rangers and too many groups on the course. At one point we pulled up to a par 5 on the front 9, and there were 5 groups on the hold (1 on the green, 2 on the fairway, and 2 on the tee).
The course is in alright shape. Just stay on the fairways. The greens and tee boxes are nice.
Can't beat the price and there are some challenging holes. Although many holes are right on top of one another.

Chick Evans Golf Course
Played On 06/25/2016Not bad for what you pay
Fun, relatively short course that is in good shape. Affordable, even on the weekends. We play here 2-4 times per year. Some really easy holes and some pretty challenging ones. It's a fun course to play a few times a year. Just get out early.
West at White Pines Golf Course
Played On 06/05/2016Stay East if you can
I've played both courses at White Pines multiple times, but it had been a while since I had last been on the East course. Personally I think it is slightly more challenging than the west and the layout is better as well.
White Pines has recently lost a large number of trees (due to disease) and the East course (at least so far) seems to a faired better than the West course.
I think both courses can be slightly overpriced (especially on the weekends) but if you can find a deal, it is well worth playing.
Hughes Creek Golf Club
Played On 05/22/2016Kind of out there, but worth the drive
Hughes is a great course. The grounds crew do a great job of maintaining it and it has some fun and tricky holes along the way. There are some elevation changes on a few holes that add to the challenge. There are a few fairways that require a straight drive (little forgiveness) while others are very open. The price is great and I've never had a problem with the pace here. Played 18 in just about 4 hours on a Sunday late morning. Staff are always friendly as well. Will definitely be back.
