Waterchase Golf Course
Played On 04/05/2024Everything great but pace of play
I’ve played Waterchase a handful of times over the past few years. Course conditions are always great from tee boxes to greens. 4/5/24 was our day of play. Greens were sanded somewhat recently but rolled really well. Tee boxes were really good, and fairways were excellent. This is a top notch course and I wouldn’t hesitate to play here again. Our only issue was the pace of play. This was the first time I have had an issue here. We finished 9 holes in 2hr 45 minutes. Way too long. Our tee time was 11:20 on a Friday. There was a Marshall there but he didn’t seem like the overly assertive type. We had to call it after 15 holes due to other engagements. As we drove back up to the clubhouse we noticed there was an extremely slow threesome a few groups ahead that was the real problem. Get things moving along better Waterchase. You’re too good a club for this to happen.

This is my 3rd time playing here in the last two years. I first played dec 2021, second time was may/June 2022, and most recently 6/4/23. First two times playing here I loved it. Golf course was in great condition both times. My third time playing here I feel like the conditions weren’t up to par. In playing most recently, I felt the tee boxes could have been cleaner, and the bunkers didn’t really drain well, there was standing water and it was more from irrigation and not from any significant rain. A few fairways were In disrepair on the back 9.
Tee times are far and few between here on golf now as they have limited tee times for non-members. I like the golf course and the area a lot, but just felt lack-luster this last round. Will play here again but probably wait until early fall. Hopefully the course does well this summer and it’s back to it’s former glory.

I'm from San Diego CA relocated in central DFW 1.5 years ago. Played many courses here that I've liked, including Cowboys, Bear Creek, and Tour 18, but this course to me has them all beat for a variety of reasons. SO is nestled in a lovely golf/tennis community reminiscent of palm springs, CA. Played here twice, last weekend and today. The pro shop attendants and beverage cart are very accommodating and friendly. Hard to beat $4 a beer. For the course, tee's to green are in great shape. Greens punched a few weeks ago so greens a little slow but with the undulations it's not a bad thing! As a single, paired with 3 other golfers and we had a great time both rounds I played. Course is definitely more tough than most because of tree and house lines fairways, as well as 6900 yards from the black tees, so you must be wise with club selection off the tee.
All in all, you'd be hard pressed to find a better course In north Texas. It's a country club vibe with a lot of community members playing everyday, but everyone I've met has been kind and well-mannered, not a lot of hackers out here too which makes for about a four hour round with NO Marshall! Love this place.
