A hilly course in Central Florida!

Once you get over the amazing clubhouse at Bella Collina, the first thing that you will notice is how hilly it is. This course is the only course in Central Florida that I have played that has blind shots!

The fairways and greens were in great shape. On the greens, the putts rolled true but were a little slow. The greens have significant slopes and tiers, where if you missed from the fairway on the wrong side, a three putt became very likely.

Off the tee, the holes are wide open, but be warned that an errant tee shot can make your approach shot very difficult. For being our first time on the course (playing the white tees - 6500 yards) and not knowing the lines to take on the blind holes, our group found the second shots to be quite challenging.

The course plays much longer than the yardage, especially if the fairways aren't running out. My dad (10 handicap off the senior tees) had trouble carrying the hills off the tee, so the second shots played extremely long for him (mainly hybrids and long irons). On top of that our whole group had trouble knowing the best angle to take.

A couple of additional notes: The par 3s vary in length but all require a mid to long iron, depending on the wind. Each side has a driveable par 4 with deep bunkers, while short, these holes can make for a quick bogey if not played correctly off the tee. These two holes also average out with two long par 4s (both over 440 yards from the middle set of tees).

Overall, a great course that is absolutely worth the drive from Orlando. The conditions are fantastic and each hole is a challenge. While the course plays long, it offers a good mix of holes to keep things interesting. A different course that low handicappers will like but may be a little too difficult for the higher handicappers that don't hit the ball very long off the tee. I would definitely recommend this course if you can catch a lower rate in the late morning.

Great shape for less than a week after Hurricane Irma

The Waldorf was in great shape considering it had just been through a hurricane. The greens were rolling nice and the fairways were in great shape. There was some standing water and debris around the course, as expected. The only thing that hindered play were the washouts in the bunkers (which they were fixing as we played).

The course is a fairly tough track with a lot of places to get into trouble off the tee. Most holes are lined with water or bunkers.

The greens are nice and roll true but can make it tough to save a par if you miss them on the wrong side. Just like the starter said, "they are elevated and if you go long, you're going to be in trouble".

The only complaint that we had about the course was the pace of play. Because a lot of courses in the area were still closed, the tee sheet was completely filled before and after us. We played as a threesome in just under 5 hours, but it felt like longer since we were waiting on just about every tee box.

Overall, we had a great experience at the Waldorf and would recommend it to anyone visiting Orlando or to anyone who lives in the area and is looking for something above average. We caught a mid-morning rate of $60/round which is a fair price for the course and the shape that it was in.
