Turnberry Golf Club
Played On 11/01/2015Great for short game
Excellent links course for short game practice. Water hazards, unforgiving fescue/rough and sand make it challenging despite the shortness. The first and 18th holes are regulation lengths and then the rest of the course are interesting par 3's. Great conditions and some really fun views and approaches.
Chedoke Civic Golf Course - Beddoe
Played On 10/23/2015Worth the drive and the elevation changes
Great old style course. Played Beddoe which has some real ups and downs. Fairways were in good shape and the greens rolled true (even though punched some time ago). Very nice autumn views. Not very busy at all during the week.
Lowville Golf Club
Played On 09/13/2015Up and down with nice views.
Not very many flat lies and interesting greens. Course was in good condition. It seems like an easy layout, but you've got to keep in on the high side, or you'll have sidehill lies or it will roll off the fairway on some holes. Great staff.
Guelph Country Club
Played On 09/07/2015Great 9 hole track.
Two sets of tees let you play 18 holes at this very well maintained course with mature trees and nice holes.
The greens were in great shape and the course is a nice combination of shorter and longer holes. Even though it's in town, it was very quiet and peaceful. Worth the drive.
Camisle Golf Club - Land of Legend
Played On 08/14/2015Brutal, DO NOT go.
Not worth the drive or money. Very deep rough, very few markers, terrible views. No kidding, it was like playing in a farmer's field that hadn't been kept up. Left after 5 holes it was so bad.
Camisle Golf Club - Land of Legend
Played On 07/26/2015Terrible. Do NOT go. Conditions are horrible.
First, I have played at a lot of courses. Often out of the way and off of the beaten track. This is the WORST course that I have ever seen or played. It's like someone tried to set up a course in the back field and then forgot things like a map, yardage markers, watering the greens or cutting the fairway. The rough was literally 3 to 4 feet high on some holes. If you have complete local knowledge you could work your way around it, but otherwise it's a complete waste of time and money. I'm surprised that Golf Now keeps it on the list of available courses. I had to stop after 5 holes. I played another course in the area and met 2 guys who had the same experience and vowed never to return.
Brant Valley Golf Course
Played On 07/24/2015Bring extra balls and hking shoes.
You really need to think about your shots on this relatively short course. There are lots of positional decisions to make with water and trees in play on many holes. It can be a good scoring round or not depending on whether you keep it in play. The staff were friendly, but the marshall on this day was a bit aggressive.
Millcroft Golf Club
Played On 07/17/2015Nice course amongst homes.
Good course through a subdivision (that doesn't feel that way due to the layout and trees to a large extent). Nice greens and course was in great shape. You need to keep aware of trouble spots (some water, sand and narrow fairways) and then you can score well. Good staff.
Calerin Golf Course
Played On 06/14/2015Beautiful and challenging 9 hole course that plays like an 18.
The two tee boxes set up nicely to give completely different looks for each hole. The course has elevation changes and sand/water challenges that make it a pleasure to play. The forward tees are less challenging, but there's still some deep rough and challenge even for those tees. The staff is great and the pace of play can be a little slow at times due to some tight holes. It is a fun test of golf.
Dunnville Golf and Country Club
Played On 06/07/2015Charming 9 hole local course.
Decent conditions although a bit dry for this 9 hole course with two different tee set ups (to enable 18 hole play). Greens were in very good condition. Staff was exceptionally friendly. A nice moderate difficulty course with some interesting holes.Pace of play was good.
Whirlpool Golf Course
Played On 05/18/2015Worth the drive
Excellent old style course. Very friendly staff and smoothly run. Conditions were quite good (although greens were recently aerated and sanded, so they were slooow). You need to keep it in the fairway and there are some long par 4"s, so it's a good challenge for all golfers. With the falls nearby, it's a great location.
Wyldewood Golf and Country Club
Played On 05/08/2015Great old school course
Very nice course with some interesting holes. Pace of play was fantastic as the course is relatively little known and the members are quite good at moving along. Very good early season conditions. A pleasure to walk with some hills and water to keep it active.
