Frankenstein

OK don’t let the title scare you away because it is a decent course for the money. Not the greatest public course in the Tulsa area, but for the price, cannot be beat if you know the quirks of Frankenstein.

The course is laid out like a patchwork quilt. Bits and pieces laid out here and there. The course has been laid out and changed at least once. You can see old holes and tee boxes that have now grown over. From the looks of it appears they might have sold parts of it for residential development, and re-arranged the holes. Example when you play holes 1 and 2 you will be back at the clubhouse and the last time you will see the clubhouse until you finish on hole 18.

Take an ice chest with you with drinks and snacks. No beverage/snack cart on the course with a cute college coed with big (.)(.), just some ole guy with an ice chest and limited selection. Cheap enough though if all you want is a coke or bud. They do have a few bathroom facilities and water distributed around the course. A plus for the ladies..

For a par 70 is a bit long at 6800 yards from the tips. Decent fairways and greens. There are some water hazards, and several are hidden, so make sure you examine the holes if it is your first time. Otherwise a semi-good tee shot or approach can end up with a wet nasty surprise.

No tee times, weekend between 7:30 and 9:00 can incur a bit of a wait with the local guys, but once off never more than a 4-hour round. Course never gets really crowded. All in all, a decent course especially on weekends when Tulsa public courses are swamped. Just call before going as they do have tournaments on weekends time from time. Well worth the money.
