Ventura Country Club
Played On 02/18/2020Best Golf Value in a While
Played with my wife today.
What a great little golf course. It's short by typical standards but don't be fooled - there is plenty of challenge incltge par 5 6th hole with a 180 carry over water to start.
Conditions were excellent other than a couple of spotty greens. Lots of sand in the traps.
Do yourself a favor and play this one!
Kissimmee Bay Country Club
Played On 02/17/2020Good value for golf in Kissimmee
My wife and I played this course during our vacation in Orlando. This is our first time playing in mid February so not sure if conditions are typical for time of year but felt the greens were a but rough as were the boxes. Fairways were ok. Sand traps were poor and hadn't been raked.
Course itself was a good challenge with water in play on a majority of holes.
Pace of play was slow but I believe we were just unlucky to have a slow group in front of us.
We paid $35 with cart so can't beat the value.
Eagle Creek Golf Club
Played On 02/14/2020First round of the year
My wife and I played our first round of golf ever in Florida at Eagle Creek. If this course is any indication of what's to come we will be very happy with our decision to travel to Florida this year.
Course conditions were decent for time of year. I found the greens slow but was told they were fast :) Course layout was challenging but 5 sets of tees for all levels of player. Some water but certainly not on every hole.
Only downside in my opinion was the lack of a washroom on the back nine (we were warned so did appreciate that).
Rose Hill Golf Club
Played On 05/12/2018This course has seen better days
Four years ago I played Rosehill and found it to be a great experience. Unfortunately an ownership change has resulted in the deterioration of this golf course. However, the price is right so not all is bad. And the staff are friendly which also adds to the experience.
The good - layout is challenging with lots of water and sand to keep you honest.
The not so good - several greens on the back nine are damaged and very bumpy (We played a two-putt rule); sand traps are poor - owners this would be an easy fix - starts with raking them daily!.
Overall not a complete washout.
Robert Cupp at Palmetto Hall Plantation
Played On 05/09/2018Great golf course on Hilton Head Island
My wife and I along with two friends played the Robert Cupp course yesterday. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Course was well manicured, greens were true, and sand traps actually had sand in them. Course layout was a good challenge and the 18th hole is a beauty.
I can thoroughly recommend this course.
The Golf Club at Dove Mountain - Saguaro/Tortolita
Played On 02/08/2018Maybe next time will be better
My wife and I had heard this was one of Tucson best golf courses to play. After playing we were left a bit disappointed. I believe the fact that the course was very dry had a lot to do with this.
The course layout is great and the scenery exceptional. I found the course quite difficult and the fact that the greens would not hold a high approach shot did not make the situation better. Also the greens were quick and had many undulations.
I would look to play again because I believe thus would be a great course.
Pine Knot Golf and Country Club
Played On 07/30/2017Long awaited return to Pine Knot
My wife and I played recently on a Sunday afternoon. Pace of play affected by multiple twosomes in front of us. Course conditions were good. Greens were receptive to a proper approach shot. Not a fan of 17; although, if I played again I would try something different like going over the corner rather than try a 125 yd shot off the tee to reach the elbow in the dogleg. We got a decent price off Golf Now but don't think I would pay much more.
The Valley at Eastport Golf Club
Played On 05/19/2017Good golf value in Little River, SC
My wife and I recently played this course. Decent test of golf - shorter course but strategically placed bunkers and water hazards make you think about your shots.
Fairways were well maintained. Greens not as receptive to approach shots as I would like them. Greens were average in my opinion.
We will play again during our next trip to Myrtle Beach.
San Pedro Golf Course
Played On 02/18/2015Great golf course in southern Arizona
Played during winter vacation in Tuscon. Course was recommended by my cousin who plays the course regularly. Course's best features are the greens and the varied desert playing conditions. The scenery throughout the course is quite beautiful.
The front nine plays along the San Pedro River while the back plays through two canyons. The 15th hole is an elevated par 3 which overlooks a beautiful desert setting.
The staff here are great both in the pro shop as well as the kitchen.
My wife and I will be back next year.
Hickory Ridge Golf and Country Club
Played On 07/04/2014Short course but good shape
My wife and I played this course and found it to be decent but alot of water holes. Short holes that favour someone who doesn't hit long but you still have to think your shots because there are alot of streams that cross fairways and ponds that border some greens.
Fairways and greens in good shape.
Good cheeseburger and cold beer at 19th hole.
Forest Golf and Country Hotel - 18-hole
Played On 06/29/2014Good golf value in Forest, Ontario
My wife and I played during a short vacation in the Forest area.
Per other reviews, the course is short so it favours someone who doesn't hit a long ball off the tee. However, there is lots of water hazards, mature trees and other things that make the round challenging. Greens were in decent shape. Fairways were also in good shape. The island-green was a nice surprise.
We enjoyed our round and will be back before the season is over.
Gibson Bay Golf Course
Played On 05/07/2014Great golf value in southern Kentucky
Rolling hills, well groomed fairways; however, some greens are small so precise approach shots are required.
Greens were quite receptive to well played approach shots.
We enjoyed this course and will play again.
Boone's Trace National Golf Club
Played On 05/05/2014Real gem in heart of Kentucky
First time golfing in Kentucky and we weren't disappointed.
This course is situated in some rolling hills with many great views. There are several elevation changes which make the course challenging at times.
Course was in decent shape -greens were receptive to well played approach shots.
Only complaint would be there were few markers on the fairways to show distance to greens.
We will play again.
PS -One of our favourite moments was when three deer raced across the fairway on 15.
Eagle's Pointe Golf Club
Played On 10/18/2013A real gem in Bluffton
Wide open fairways and large greens make this a truly enjoyable golf experience for someone like me with modest golfing talent. The greens were receptive to well struck approach shots.
We really enjoyed our round of golf.
Island West Golf Club
Played On 10/12/2013Good value golf - first time golfing in South Carolina
Course was well maintained. Greens were firm but receptive to approach shots. Good mix of challenge on the holes.
It was my first time playing but my partner had played four times previously.
there are so many other courses...why not try them all ?
