Plays harder than it seems

The starter and staff can be crabby - I've seen this playing here on several occasions, and I wish they would understand how this detracts from a golfer's experience.

Pace of play can be slow - I've never gotten out of here in under 4 hours.

Course conditions are generally good - tee boxes always seem long and overly divoted, but greens are relatively well maintained and fairways / waste bunkers / tall grass areas are all what they should be for the style of course this is.

Final comment - depth perception on approach shots are made more difficult because they use short 5' flagsticks, and yardages frequently seem "off" when you're standing over your shots. I and many people I've played with have noted a higher-than-average number of balls that either come up surprisingly short or fly over the green. At least that's always what makes me play this course higher than my handicap, and probably part of the design.

Front 9 is painfully slow! Need a ranger out there, not a beer cart.

Played single but immediately hooked up with a nice twosome on the first tee. Was behind multiple slow groups, so slow it was to the point where there was 3 groups deep waiting to tee off on each hole on the front after the 2nd. Front nine took 3 hours and 15 minutes...agony, but the groups in front of me just bought more beer and then went home after 9. We called the clubhouse to complain, but they didn't send anyone out to tell anyone to pick up the pace.

Got on the back which was empty, and I decided to break ahead of the twosome I was with. Finished the back in under an hour which really helped my mood. Without that I probably wouldn't have thought about coming back. Now I just won't come back on a weekend afternoon.

Course was in good shape, better than the last time I played a few weeks ago. 6100 yards from the tips for a par 70, and some placement shots so it's a fun course if they could just get control of the slow players.

Ex member, course still has its private club feel

Used to belong here and sort of wish I still did. Greens are in much better shape than they were this spring. Shaun and the crew do a great job holding things together despite the apparent decline in business over the past couple years. The course is suffering from location problems, but that's good for those who know about it because you can play at a great pace and not wait much, if ever. The course (6,400 from the whites) is longer than most in the GB / Manitowoc area, and I always seem to appreciate the challenge. Wish it was just a bit closer to home but the drive down 43 from the East side of GB is easier than going to comparable courses down the 41 corridor. Clubhouse has very good food and fair prices. Wish they still had the pool as it really created a private club vibe to the place.

Not bad for the Hot Deals price on a weekend

Played single, got off early thanks to an open tee sheet. Slow play and group bunch-ups after a brief downpour made about 9 holes waiters before I got through 2 groups. Starter really didn't know what to do with the GolfNow reservation and seemed a little annoyed by it, but other than that the bartenders are nice after the round. Your first round's price is your score. Greens were in very good shape and the course wasn't soggy despite all the rain we've had in the area. That is not the norm for many of the courses I've played this year around GB, which was nice for a change.
