Greens are being replaced this summer and in TERRIBLE shape

We booked a tee time online and there was no mention of any course condition issues. Realized after a few holes that all of their greens were pretty much in terrible shape. I asked at the turn what happened to the greens and was told they're over 20 years old and they're planning to replace them this summer and they didn't "come back"...not sure what they had to come back from but they're unplayable. Don't bother playing here until they're finished with replacing the greens. I was told they will be closing in April and reopening by the end of summer. I played here last year and the course was in excellent shape. Still a great layout and the rest of the course was in pretty good shape .

All in all, my main complaint was they aren't advertising this issue. Yes, they're charging cheaper rates but I paid over $70 on a "deal" time expecting this course to be really nice based on past experience. It was the last course we played out of 7 on a golf trip and it was a real bummer to find out the greens were that bad.

Hi bhj83, we appreciate your feedback as we continuously strive to improve our golfers' experiences. The Club has just started a greens maintenance project and we hope you will not be deterred from coming out to visit it once it has been completed.

Maybe the Best Non-Private Course in the KC Metro

I've played Creekmoor a handful of times over the last 5 years and it's always been one of the best maintained courses around. White sand bunkers, great zoysia fairways and long, lush rough! Hitting the fairway is usually a must here as it can be tough to get a good shot out of the rough. The greens are usually fairly quick and in great shape. Be sure to choose the right set of tees (maybe play a little less than you usually do) as this course can play very long and tough. Highly recommend playing it if you can somehow get in cheaper than the $70-$80 they usually charge.

Fantastic Conditions

I had the chance to play TCC as a guest and really enjoyed it. You definitely need to bring your best fade swing off the tee and it can be challenging if you're in the trees, but it's a great layout. The condition of the course was excellent. Hard to find a divot in the fairways and the greens were rolling great. Highly recommend if you get the chance to play it!

Great Course in the Northland

I have played TG a lot in the past 3 years and it's always pretty consistent. Great course conditions, friendly staff and great value. The only complaint I have is the bunkers could be a little better. Other than that, fairways, rough and greens are always in great shape and it's one of the best conditioned courses in the KC metro year in and year out. Definitely worth the play!

Nice Course...Could Be Better

I always hear about Shoal Creek being one of the best public courses in the KC area. While I agree it is a nice course with a terrific layout, it just doesn't live up to that hype due to the course conditions. They aren't bad or anything, but the rough is very inconsistent and you'll find a lot of bare spots, especially around the greens. Makes getting up and down tough at times if you find one of the many bare spots. Fairways were the bright spot as I didn't really notice any issues there. Greens had some spots where it looked like pitch marks weren't replaced properly. Is that the courses fault? I don't know...I play another course that gets more traffic yearly and don't see those problems with the greens. I would recommend that you play the course...just don't expect course conditions to be commensurate with their regular $70ish rate they charge on weekends.

Disappointing Course Conditions

I got a Groupon to play this private course and really liked the layout. There wasn't much excitement on the front, but the back had a bunch of fun holes and some with extreme elevation changes. The conditioning of the course left a lot to be desired. About 5 or 6 of the greens were in rough shape and if you were in the wrong spot, you couldn't get a good roll. About 75% of the sand traps were circled with white paint indicating they were ground under repair. How does this happen at a private course? There were also an abnormally large amount of zoysia patches in the fairways that were circled ground under repair.

Overall, I guess I'm glad I played it to say I did but I was really disappointed that it wasn't in better shape. I wouldn't recommend people to go play there for the $50 they're charging on Groupon. Hopefully they're planning to pump all the money from the 1,000+ Groupon they've sold back into the course.

One of the best in KC!

I love this course and I'm glad they got on GolfNow as it has become a little more affordable to play. If I'm being completely honest, I would like it to be in better shape but it is the end of July and we haven't had rain in weeks. It looks like they need to be watering a little more to keep the condition up. Still very fun to play and in overall pretty good shape all things considered. Can't wait to go back!
