Great shape! Great layout! Great course!

Since the new owners took over a couple years ago the course has continually became better year after year. They put a lot of time effort and money into making this course great again. Greens roll true, grass is in Fantastic shape and the layout is second to none in the area, pace of play was great as well, plenty of food options in the clubhouse. Grass driving range also in great shape. The newer electric carts are a huge upgrade from the old gas powered ones. The only negatives I would say is the sand traps could use some work, which they have started doing. Also the short game area is lacking but they do have a chipping area and large putting green.
This is a players course, it will challenge your game. Make sure you play the correct tee boxes.
Not a house on the course it’s wooded with trees and some water, water definitely not overwhelming but it does come into play on certain holes, it’s not a back and fourth muni course either the course plays around a large wooded area with as much elevation changes as you can find anywhere in Macomb county.
I would recommend this course to anyone on the east side and anywhere in Detroit it’s worth the drive, bring your A game this isn’t St. Clair Shores country club.

Inconsiderate, rude. An Overpacked value

I showed up with my daughters who love to golf with Dad. As I approached the clubhouse a guy standing there asked me there age I said 7-8 he said sorry but they are not allowed to golf, I have never encountered this before they have been to ay least 10 courses with me and everywhere they encourage them playing. Let me be clear I understand golf and play a lot I know pace of play isssues, my children only put and chip, I drove an hour, no consideration, didn’t offer me anything for my trouble, when I told them I paid $10 already to golf now they said call them. I been here before, I won’t be back. They said reason was they were to packed and they might get hit by a ball, I didn’t know golf balls discriminate and only hit children. If it’s to packed maybe you should consider 10 min tee times as you just admitted gross negligence by admitting there is a hazard of to many people on such a small course. FYI we ended up at copper hills and played in under 4:15 and caught both groups in front of us on each 9. My children said copper hills is the coolest golf course they ever been to and will probably never forget Sunday. I’m sure they will remember this place to but for the wrong reasons.

Hello Christopher. At Heather Hills, we have always encouraged families to play with us and grow the game with junior golf. As we explained, safety is our number one concern when children are involved. To prevent any danger or potential for harm, we cannot allow more than two passengers to ride on a cart. Pace of play was not a concern, and as an active sponsor of Youth on Course, we find that most junior golfers have no problem maintaining pace and can even make some of our regular golfers look slow. We take family and safety very seriously and although your recent experience with us was not ideal, we do encourage you to come back. We respect your opinion and appreciate your feedback.

You keep changing your reason for not allowing me and my children to golf there, just because you respond doesn’t make your management better, your employee told me it was because of age, whoever was inside said they might get hit with a club or ball, and now it’s because we had three in the cart? Why would that matter? Like I said we won’t be back, your course is definitely not worth the ride there are about 7 nicer courses between my house and there, we came for the value and hills, no value in not playing. Thanks for letting me know your course is dangerous.

The golf standard

I am still trying to figure out why courses like Disneys magnolia and and orange lake legends are in the same conversation and sometimes rated higher than this course. There is no comparison. Champions gate is in way better condition, tee to green, also every bunker on the course was raked out, plush fairways and rough, very few bare spots.
Not to mention the amenities. This is what high end golfing should be, they treat you like a pro. From the minute you arrive, free valet, free range balls, also you never have to touch your clubs, just walk into the clubhouse take care business, your clubs will be waiting for you in a fresh cart with ice, tees, and GPS. The course is superb, I can understand why some people complain about the layout, it has small greens on the national, but that is just about the style of course you are playing, the international is links style with bigger greens. It's just the style I can promise that everything is very well maintained

Outstanding! We're thrilled that you enjoyed your experience with us. We're pleased that you enjoyed our course conditions as well as the customer service our staff provided you. We appreciate your feedback on our greens and we are actually replacing the National greens this summer. This should restore them to their original size and shape. Again, thank you so much for your kind words. We cannot wait to have you back for another round!

Hard course, slow greens.

This course is not as good as rated very hard and the greens were really slow. Nice bunkers, and clubhouse, nice fairways and practice range. But I did not like the setup or the greens, not worth $70 bit for $15 on hot deal is a steal
