LITTLE DISAPPOINTED

Price on Golf Now is what makes this coarse worth playing. Rates have increased considerably the past year. Winter rates seem to be more than past summer rates. No rain the past few days but course is still very muddy. Nothing like needing a shovel to dig out a ball in the middle of the fairway; Gen2 hole 1. Eighth hole on Gen 2 has so many pot holes, watched my ball hit center fairway and bounced left and right numerous times. No marshall keeping track of which Generation people start on. Payed online and was expecting another threesome, they didn't want to play with a single so I got stuck waiting at each hole for the groups in front. Greens were nice except for the fact divers are not being repaired by other players. Had the mowers down my back the entire back nine, very annoying. Golf Now Hot Deal only thing that keeps me coming back and it's only 15 minutes from home. New driving range being built which would make it better for practice since you are limited to 5 iron and below or use a set of practice nets they set up for woods and driver. Not much for concession other than sodas and roller dogs.

SLOW 5

I've been playing Capital City for about five years now and normally it is a very nice course to play. Today would have been another nice day if not for the slow play and a course marshal who couldn't be bothered with enforcing a pace of play. Front nine in two hours, no problem. Started back nine with a twenty minute wait at the tee box. Finished the 10 to arrive at 11 with 13 people at the tee box or in the greens. The foursome in front of us just left and either jumped a hole of left. The foursome behind use complained to the Marshall who told them he didn't care. It was wait and go for the next 8 holes. This is a annomoly but does happen from time to time.. Marshall should be doing more than sitting in a cart smoking cigars under the trees.

Absolutely the Best

Why have I waited so long and wasted so much playing some of the other courses in the Southsound? Course conditions were absolutely awesome. Greens true and consistent throughout. Nice to get away from the city sounds and houses and enjoy the day. Sanitizing stations throughout the course, staff get friendly and helpful to newbys at the course. Top-notch practice areas where range balls starting at $4.00 for a small bucket of about 30 balls. Saw two deer and a few Hawks and eagles. Sorry Capitol City and Lakeland Village, I've got a new favorite course.

Aeration Disappointment

First off, Capitol City Golf is normally a great place to play. Pace of play can be very slow at times though. Today the course was fairly empty due to the aerofication of the greens. My foursome still took 4 hours and waited many times on the tee box for 10 minutes for the group in front. Today they aeroated the greens without any notice on their website or GolfNow. The young man tried to appear surprised that no notice was on their website but as of 4 p.m there still is no notice. Driving range was limited to under 100 yes but no notice when you buy a bucket but the nice little sign near the practice range lets you know after you pay. I find it very unprofessional for the management not to alert customers there facility's will be diminished but they expect full price. I understand the work needs to be done and the course will return to a great facilty when done, just saying a little professional courtesy. Imagine buying tickets for a Seahawks vs Rams and driving to the stadium and find out no returns and two high School football teams will be playing. As a last note, Eagles Price Golf Course had an alert before making reservations that the course has been aeroated.

NEW MANAGEMENT

I've been playing here for about 4 years now and the course is in much better condition. Most of the improvements appear in the vicinity of the clubhouse. My only issue is that area under repair throughout the course, and especially on Generation 1 seem to just be painted under repair and not actually being repaired. Gen 1 has several areas of pot holes down the fairway, especially on the 3 hole par 5. Price on GolfNow is inconsistent, ai paid $13.00 then two days later the same time and date was $29.00. The nicest thing is Lakeland Village does have tee time Hot Deals after 12:00 so you can use the PromCodes you earn from GolfNow. GolfNow needs to change the after 12:00 tee times for use of earned Promocodes.

SPRING AEROATION

Capitol City Golf course is an outstanding place to play especially when it has been wet as it is one of the best in draining. They recently aeroated the greens so today they were a bit bumpy and slow. With weekend rain they will be great in a few more days. Wish there had been a notice on GolfNow before making reservation. Do not use yellow balls for the 1st or 9th hole as they tend to get littered
with range balls. The on-site restaurant is an excellent place to get a cool drink and food. Will certainly be back again.

Aeration Alert

This is a 3 nine hole layout referred to as Generations. I played Gens 3 & 1 in that order. Gen 1 was aerated about a week ago and was still rather bumpy. It is also the shortest and tightest of the three generations. Generation 3 had not been aerated yet and was in great shape. I expect it will be punched and aeraaerated in the next week or two. They just layer the sand on Gen 2s greens today so it is closed. The course will be iffy for the next couple weeks as the green heal. Once done, the greens will be great as they usually are, just be patient. This is a nice course and the prices are great. The club house staff are awesome and very accommodating to locals and guests.

Labor day Weekend Fun

I've been playing Lakeland Village Golf Courses for about four years now. The staff, particularly Karen at the front desk is awesome. The course consists of three 9 hole options or Generations. Gen 2 & 3 are by far the better two. The greens are almost always in excellent shape and this weekend was no different. The only downside is there are numerous areas that are extremely dry and without grass near the greens. Some so bad that cracks inches wide and deep. Need to water when the rain stops. Pace of play can vary, Tuesday and Wednesday are club days in the morning. On average though you can get through in about 31/2 to 4 hours. I walk to keep behind the groups ahead. Practice green is very nice but the driving range is short. I can easily but a 5 iron into the end trees.

Master Chief Approved

I was a little critical a couple years ago while reviewing this course as there was some issues. I have played a couple times here since the beginning of the year and compared to two years ago, much improved. The greens were punched a couple week back but have healed very well. Having three 9 holes allows them to stagger and keep the course open. The rain held off to allow myself and another gentleman to walk the Red and Blue in just under 3 1/2 hours. The Sam Adams Brewhouse is now open. Excellent food and beverages.

Great Day

This is my first time playing the blue course. Eagles Pride is three 9 hole courses which gives you options. They punched the blue greens about 2 weeks ago but they looked great on the day I played. The weather was a bit drizzling off and on but not bad. Some reviews stated staff was not great but I had no issue. They man at the desk was helpful and seemed to be in a very good mood. The Samuel Adams restaurant is still being renovated. Be advised this course will be punching the other two courses in the coming weeks. A bit if advice, call your courses to see if they are punching their greens as this is green maintenance time.

Par for the course

Lakeland Village Golf Course is a 27 hole neighborhood layout design. Generations 2 & 3 seem to be the most popular. Nice easy layout without any real obstacles other than trees and homes along the fairway. I play here regularly during the summer months as the GolfNow rates are really good. Fall through spring can be very wet as many fairways do not drain well. This last outing was nice, greens rolled well and approach shots held on green. This is a walkable course but if you ride, the carts are expensive. Most days its not too busy except Tuesday and I believe Wednesdays for morning leagues.

The Links at Hawks Prairie

Great deal with GolfNow. First time playing at Hawks Prairie. Staff was friendly enough. Practice facility is fair to average. I get spoiled playing at Gold Mountain which has a great practice facility. With two courses, pace of play was a non issue. Not once did we wait for the group in front and nobody breathing down our backs. It was a Monday so the player numbers may have been lower. I was paired with two other gentleman who were awesome and very nice to play with. Rex was the resident expert and was very willing to get course management tips. The overall course was a little challenging but playable for most. The speed on the greens was very fast or perhaps my normal course has very slow greens, Ha! I will certainly play here again. I did not eat at the course but the Army guys playing ahead seemed to enjoy the food as we met at the turn. Keep your receipt as the on course bathrooms have a keycode which is located on your receipt.

Good price

Course layout runs through neighborhood but fairways wide enough for those less than straight shots. Driving range sits between 1st and 9th holes so keep trackof your ball or only use a white ball there. Many of the greens was missing grass and was hard packed dirt off greens and greenside bunkers. Greens themselves were in great condition and ball rollout was good. Clubhouse was nice and the counter staff very helpful. I play here from time to time but drive over an hour to get there. The price is par for the coarse or even a bargain. I will certainly continue to come to play.

Needs more Pride

First impressions start with Pro Shop, nice with very helpful and polite staff. Driving range is good. Course setup as 3 9 holes which can give you different setups if you play there more often when all 3 open. Fairways are mainly tree lined with areas off the fairways littered with smashed mole mounds. Greens were horrible and the head grounds keeper needs a good talking to about their conditions. Most if not all had multiple and some very large bare spots with no grass. Pace of play was absolutely horrible. Nearly every hole we just stood either in the fairway or even tee box watching the foursome infront of use all tee off. Course Marshall came by three or four times and we discussed but the problem never improved. Seems they had mens group a few holes ahead that was holding the pace up. I drove nearly an hour to play here. For the price its not bad but beware of course conditions if we have a little drought as I would bet the greens will only get worse. Pride is in the course name, take a little more in cleaning up the course.

Winter Wonderland

End of year frost delayed start and left 11 holes closed. Staff is very friendly and the young man (Caleb) working as valet were great. With the frost, staff was able to open seven holes and allowed unlimited play or till dark. The course does not allow walking and with someof the distance between holes it is understandable. I feel the winter rate is way to high considering many other courses are cheaper. 40 to 60 dollars for winter golf is pricey. I had a Golfnow promo code and reserved a Hot Deal for $45.00 and only got 14 holes in. Restaurant is great with awesome burgers and tremendous staff. Perhaps I may play again in the spring or summer if I can get another good deal.

Good for the cost

Not a bad place to play for the cost. Don't expect fancy but the price is great. Fairways had clumps of grass clippings throughout where the grass was actually green. Greens look so great, howevere they were so slow. Practice on your area rugs to get use to speed. Perhaps they are putting all the water on the greens and little to the fairways. Many greens were very soft (spongy). That all said, I did have a good time and will come back. The young lady at the desk was very polite and helpful even when an obvious regular cut the line to pay for her 9 holes.

NICE DAY

Front 9 are fairly tight but opens up on the back 9. The large practice green was really rough but the actual course had excellent greens. Interesting 18 with a parascope. Saw two deer foraging. Paired up with another guy and his wife, awesome couple.

TIMBER

Hundreds of trees in progress of being removed. Most areas are not in the actual way of playing, perhaps hoping to widen the fairways and enlarge greens, or improve airflow to assist drying. Greens were absolutely horrible, practice putting on your street to get use to bumps, divets and sandtraps on the green. Many Tboxes are rolling and uneven. I played here abut 9 months ago and other than the tree removal now, the coarse is the same. For the price, go to Gold Mountain.

Olympic Gold

Gold Mountain Golf has a gem here. First time on the Olympic Course and certainly not disappointed. Paired up with 3 Fireman who were patient and helpfully in navigating the fairways. The area received nearly 2 inches of rain two days prior but you could hardly tell. The maintenance crew had the area cleared of down branches from the storm the day prior. If your looking for a great golf course for a reasonable rate with a friendly, helpfull staff, head out to Gold Mountain.

Great place to play especially for the price. Fairways were very wet and soggy. Guess that can be expected for this time of year. Played here earlier in the year and courses was in awesome shape. Don't let the weather stop you, get out there and enjoy the golf and staff of Lakeland Village.
