A dog track with great food

If you take their $39.95 special you'll be treated to a very complete breakfast and lunch buffet included. The deal is a one trick pony due to the horrible course conditions. The fairways are thin, flat, with little grass and many weeds. Large sand areas are unmaintained. You hit many thick shots because it is impossible to pitch a ball to thee green since there is no grass. Take your $40-$49 elsewhere

A cow pasture with 18 holes

The west course is a disgrace and is a waste of $40.The fairways are browned out and the greens have many bare spots, little grass, and have not been watered or seeded. The West was reopened in Jan. 2013. It looks like it was just left in a neglected state with no water or fertilization. It is apparent that management is putting all their funds into the premier East course at the expense of the West. There are many finer course in the Ft; Lauderdale area to play for the same $$$. Low handicappers should play their East course.

The best conditions in years

Colony West is now owned by the Town of Tamarac with the Rack family running the day to day operations. Money and care has been put into the Executive Glades course which is in the best condition in years. This is a very easy course and a good one for high handicappers. Balls can be putted up onto greens with few sand traps around them. Greens are small and it is very hard for a pitch landing on a green to stay there hold without rolling off. Internet rates are lower than rack rates if you walk in. Their $99 frequent player card is only worth it if you play soley at CW. There are many other good courses in the area that are competitively priced with no membership card. During the busy winter months play before the 12:00 price drop. Since it is a CanAm member course, it gets mobbed with French Canadians and your round will easily take 5 hours to play.
