Peterculter Golf Club
Played On 04/13/2014Nice course with lovely greens
Played this course the day after a family wedding (with hangover) and really enjoyed it.
The fairways were firm and the greens were really good for this time of the year. It's not the trickiest course, suiting good iron players opposed to the big hitters. The views are tremendous, the course was good and staff very friendly.
A great day and I would recommend giving it a whirl. Only thing to spoil it was my wife shooting 4 under par and taking me to the cleaners!!!
Starfire Golf Club - The King Course
Played On 04/11/2013Course average, not one to rush back to.
Arrived at course with tee time 7:50 am. Bag drop and pro shop staff very nice and helped us along our way. Made our way to starter who gave us the low down on the day and stressed that slow play was unacceptable at Starfire and for us to keep up with group in front at all times.... Bearing in mind we were playing in a two ball and no one had tee'd off in the last 40 mins we thought time would not be an issue. We are from Scotland and walk our courses usually completing a round in about 3-1/2---4 hrs max. All the holes at this course are situated in and around a housing complex which was different but as we only paid $49 each we weren't' going to complain. As we reached the 5th tee we had to wait for the four ball of elder gents in front to play their second shots. They then took another 4 or 5 shots each to reach the green and it was here it clicked why we had caught up with them. No problem though we all play to different standards and enjoy our game at different pace's. We eventually got to the green and noticed a 3 ball behind us on the fairway and another 4 ball waiting on the tee. As we drove to the next tee( green to tee's very long distances apart) the gents had just tee'd off and refused to let us play through..... This continued and very quickly the whole course backed up behind us and as we passed the starter on the ninth I stopped and complained about the gents and the slow play. He sat in his buggy and looked away saying " you are only a two ball what do you expect" I informed him about the course backing up and again he said" what do you want me to do you should have booked an earlier tee time!!". Not good...
Eventually we " politely pushed" through but never again!
To sum up course nothing great pro shop staff nice course starter/Marshall shocking.
Mesquite/Ironwood at Kierland Golf Club
Played On 04/05/2013Fantastic course, staff and facilities.
This course/resort is part of the Westin group and as such has an expensive rack rate but after keeping an eye on Golf now my wife and I found a good deal(still on expensive side) to play this course. We booked to play on the Ironwood and Acacia course at a tee time 8:30.
Staff on arrival very friendly and helped us through the booking in process and directions to practise area. This itself was immaculate and after hitting a few we were ushered to our air conditioned buggy with mist spray and introduced to the starter who set us off with the usual instruction and tips with a joke or two thrown in as well.
I'm off 9 and played off the back tees which were perfect and as the course unfolded gave the right amount of challenge. The pace of play was great and the views and course condition fabulous. This truly is a course you must play and it's up there with the best of courses Az has to offer.
We finished our round where our clubs were cleaned to within an inch of their life by the super efficient staff.
We stayed on and had a wonderful lunch and would highly recommend this venue for golf and food.
