Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - North Course

Great track, good condition and nice layout. But, the staff, once they get your money could’nt care less about you. When I checked in on a Thursday, I was told I had 30 minutes to hit on the range by the starter, Spencer.. Six minutes later after I went to the range and hit five balls he came over and told me I had to tee off now. I’m amazed he has a customer contact position in any business. There is no Marshall and after four hours and 45 minutes we left after playing only 16 holes. It’s too bad because the last four or five holes are the best out there. The entire staff could use a mandatory 40 hours in a Disney “smile school“.
The Eagles Golf Club - Forest
Played On 09/09/2021The worst conditions of ANY course in the Tampa area
Terrible tees, greens and fairways. It’s too bad because it is a very nice layout that has steadily gone downhill over the past ten years. I won’t play it again. The first impression is the putting green and driving range, both of which have not seen any TLC in months. How hard is it to grow grass in the summer in Florida.? Not very! If I was a member I would resign. If I was an Eagles homeowner, I would move.
Babe Zaharias Golf Course
Played On 02/25/2021Great experience!
I carry a single digit handicap and played “The Babe” for the first time on 2/25/21. The fairways were very good and the greens were excellent. I was impressed by the course conditions on this fun course and by the courtesy, professionalism and friendliness of their terrific staff. I will be back soon!
Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club - Panther/Bobcat Course
Played On 02/06/2020Great layout, not great shape
I love the layout at Silverthorn. There are very challenging holes and a great variety of dog legs and risk/reward opportunities. I remember playing it 25 years ago when it was immaculatley maintained. I wish I could saty that now. I have played it 4 or 5 times in the past year and keep going back becasue of the layout and the price. However in all the times that I have played it recently, I have yet to see a golf maintanance worker on the course. The bunkers are never raked, the fairways are sparse,, the collars and aprons are terrible, the tee boxes are average on a good day and the greens, normally good are showing some wear lately. I wish they would spent some money on grass seed and fertilizer. Those two items alone would greatly improve the experience.
Heritage Harbor
Played On 03/13/2020Great greens The rest of the course need water.
I have played this course several times in the past few months last week when I played the greens were in excellent shape. It is clear that all of the irrigation is going to the greens now because the tees and fairways are dry as a bone and hard as a rock. The course is very tight and any shot that is not hit within 5 yards of the fairway is generally in the hazard . This round was great value for the money and the staff is generally very friendly. If you go into the clubhouse for a cup of water they charge you $.25 for a Styrofoam cup. They don’t nickel and dime you they quarter you!
Bloomingdale Golfers Club
Played On 12/26/2019Bloomingdale has seen better days
Arrived to see a clubhouse that needed a coat of paint or two at least ten years ago and a building adjacent to the clubhouse that should be torn down. .The pro shop attendant was moderately courteous but Lou the starter was as friendly, welcoming and as nice as can be. The practice facilities are very good with an excellent large putting green that rolled very true at a 9 on the stimpmeter. The driving range was large and in good shape as were the chipping greens. Once we got ont he course the experience quickly diminushed. The tee boxes were spotty, the fairways were thin,, muddy and had a variety of weeds which was the same for the "rough".which could be hardpan. The collars and aprons around the greens were very thin and inconsistant. The greens were ok but not nearly as good as the putting green which was outstanding. On the cover of the scorecard is a picture of their signature par 5 which shows pristine white sand in a well manicured bunker. The bunkers we encountered were half filled with a mixture of dirt and sand that was not well maintained or consistant.. The layout is good to very good but it is clear that money is not being put back in to the course. This could be a very good golf course if it was properly maintained but it is not even close to being one of the best in Tampa Bay as some of their promotional materials claim
