Raven at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort
Played On 07/11/2023Good course, greens were dissapointing
I played Raven a few years ago and remembered it to be in a little bit better shape than it is now. It's a nice course and has a challenging but fun layout. The fairways and rough were in good shape. Bunkers were pretty bad, not a lot of sand but it has been raining a lot so not much they can do. The greens were pretty disappointing. Very slow, a lot of brown spots, just not what I would typically expect for a $150+ course. I would play here again during a less rainy season; would probably be in better shape.

The course is a decent layout, nice greens. Not too challenging but enough to make you hit good shots. The weather was very poor when we played so it probably is a lot better when it’s not so wet.
The problem I had is with the way they try to milk every dollar they can out of their customers. First of all, it’s $110 green fee, and it is definitely not worth that rate. However bay point has temp greens and hombre is closed so they know they can get pretty much whatever they want. We couldn’t finish our round because of rain so we got a rain check for 9 holes and came back the next day to play. We were told that since their 9 hole rate is higher than 18 holes, we had to pay an additional $20! Who doesn’t honor a rain check at the rate that was paid? Just very tasteless and low class.
Oh, and they also have NO water coolers on the course in 90+ heat in Florida because they want you to buy their $4 water bottles. Also, you are given a “starter” bag of balls before your round which has maybe 15 balls, but of course you have to buy more balls if you want to hit more.
Will not be coming back here once Bay Point gets their greens back.
Santa Maria Golf Club

Pretty good course for a city run public. Layout is nice, nice mix of easier holes with hard ones. The biggest problems are course drainage... the course was a soaked mess after it had rained days ago... and the bunkers are absolutely atrocious. Honestly all of their bunkers should be marked ground under repair they are so bad. Most of them are unplayable. Also the driving range was closed which would have been nice to know beforehand. Apparently this is a common occurrence according to locals. Overall it was a fun course but really needs new or significantly repaired bunkers. Greens were in good shape and challenging.
Indian Bayou Golf Club
Played On 07/28/2015Great course in great shape
Indian Bayou is a fantastic course and is in phenomenal shape right now. The greens are receptive to approach shots but roll true on putts. I was very impressed with the course.
Pace of play is a little slow but that is somewhat expected with most of the players out there being vacationers and not regular golfers.
My only biggest complaint is that they have NO water coolers anywhere on the course. In southwest Florida during the summer it is inexcusable to not have multiple water coolers stationed throughout the track. The heat index was 107 when I played and I started experiencing dehydration symptoms around hole 12. Keep the players hydrated!!!
Thank you for your review. We actually do have drinking fountains on each 9, and we also have the carts we provide stocked full of ice for beverages. The beverage cart should have passed you at least a few times during your round. We apologize that we missed the opportunity to provide you with refreshment, we understand the Florida heat can be a bit much for many, and we try to make sure our customers are comfortable to the best of our ability. We hope to see you for another round!
We appreciate your feedback and apologize for any disappointment you experienced during your recent visit. We hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a better experience in the future.
