Moraga Country Club
Played On 12/04/2019Play If Available!
MCC is an excellent facility with tight holes throughout and trouble on one side of every hole. Although it is short, it is most definitely not a pushover. My handicap has risen by 3 strokes since I joined despite the great practice facility! This course requires good strategy and precise ball placement. The greens are small and well-guarded. Play if possible!!
The Metropolitan Golf Links
Played On 11/16/2019Downward Spiral
Are used to play metro all the time but started to play elsewhere when course conditionings went downhill a few years ago. Sadly things have not improved. Fairways are very patchy &, seagulls Coots and other birds are everywhere (3 dead birds on fairways). Greens roll pretty well but the course is beginning to resemble more of a low tier muni. Great grass driving range and very nice staff. Sad that the course is not matching. Snack bar very sad too.
Monarch Bay Golf Club - Tony Lema Course
Played On 11/09/2019Good Times Along SF Bay
I’ve played Monarch Bay many times in the past and although they have struggled with pace of play often over the years, they seem to have that in order and things are flowing much more smoothly now. The layout is wonderful with most holes out on a undeveloped peninsula of land with San Francisco Bay to the west and a large tidal marsh to the east. A true links experience, with deep bunkers and large greens. Almost always you will see one of the resident red foxes trotting along as well. Great mix of short and long holes and typically in very good condition for a course to get so much play. Very friendly staff, however you are better off booking directly through the golf course and not an online service because they will not reduce any online service rate.
