Springfield Oaks Golf Course
Played On 08/06/2015Great Value. Pick your time wisely.
Springfield Oaks is a great metro parks course with a mix of narrow wooded holes and shorter "placement golf" holes. GN always has great deals available for this course and it is worth checking out. Beware playing before 1pm though, they must have a great senior rate because the course was stacked with retirees. Pace can be very slow.
PohlCat Golf Course
Played On 07/23/2015Pohlcat GC
GN offers great deals for Pohlcat in Mount Pleasant and it is worth the drive. The facilities are great and although the course was busy, the staff remained friendly and kept up a great pace of play. The greens here were quick and the majority of the course tee to green was in excellent shape. The course gives a good mix of links-ish holes and tree-lined wooded holes which provided a unique challenge. Not to mention the course is only ~5min from the Soaring Eagle Casino. You can make a great day out of your trip. Will return to "Stalk the Cat" again soon.
Moose Ridge Golf Course
Played On 07/21/2015Did Not Disappoint
Had to see what the buzz was about at Moose Ridge in South Lyon and it was an excellent course. Got a great GN deal and played early in the morning as a single. Greens were spectacular and the GPS on the carts at Moose Ridge were not loaded with advertisements which was also nice to see. The course is gettable and has many scenic holes, placement off the tee is key. Even had a links type feel on a few holes with large bunkers and swales of heather. The clubhouse & grille have a great feel and the "Moose Ridge Sunrise" drink special was a bonus. Get to Moose Ridge for a great day on the course.
Bear Lake Highlands Golf Course
Played On 07/12/2015Break from the Lake
Most of the time I am in the Bear Lake area it is to relax by the lake, but it is always nice to get a casual round of golf in. This course is perfect for a couple of buddies to play a stress free round of golf. It is one thing to plan on hitting get many wonderful resort courses of northern Michigan, but if you're looking for a more relaxed feel give this course a shot.
Coyote Golf Club
Played On 07/08/2015Apart of the Milford/South Lyon Hot Bed
First time playing Coyote and it lived up to my expectations. A very well maintained course that doesn't punish you too bad for misses. It's not easy, but if you get off the tee it is a very gettable course. Having played many other great courses in the South Lyon/Milford area (Lyon Oaks, Moose Ridge, Mystic Creek, Tanglewood) Coyote joins the pack and holds it's own.
Coyote Preserve Golf Club
Played On 07/02/2015Tough Track
Heard a lot about Coyote Preserve so I decided to drive up from Ann Arbor. While the outdoor areas are kind of small, their range and practice green were in good shape. Overall I would say that I was more impressed by the layout of the course more than it's condition. Greens were a little beaten up & some fairways were extremely bumpy. That being said, it is quite an enjoyable course to the golfers eye. GPS recommended for blind shots/layups.
Eagle Crest Golf Club
Played On 06/18/2015Should've gone sooner.
I was very impressed with everything the Eagle Crest facility had to offer. The course was in great shape and the layout of the course was the type of challenge that excites an avid golfer. It no doubt holds its own against the UofM and MSU courses. The practice greens and range are nothing but class (not to mention the UofM GC and Radrick Farms have extremely limited, if any public range usage). I will definitely be returning to Eagle Crest sooner than later.
Timber Trace Golf Club
Played On 06/16/2015Get there Early!
It is worth the drive to Timber Trace. The course is enjoyable and aside from some mediocre greens it was a great value. However, after telling me I was paired up, the pro shop attendant made no effort to inform me of who I was paired up with, which cart they had taken, or how many players I was paired up with. Furthermore, he decided to send the group off early without notifying me and made me walk to the first tee in order to get on a cart with a stranger. No real starter at the first tee either. This could be improved. Not a great way to start a round. I arrived 20min before my scheduled tee time, I would recommend arriving earlier to avoid such conflicts..
Lake Doster Golf Club
Played On 04/24/2015Great Value. Worth the drive.
The ~30min drive from Kalamazoo was worth it to play this course which has plenty of great deals available on golfnow. Pro shop attendant was nice enough to provide a complimentary course guide. Bonus! Will return, especially for scenery in late summer/fall months.
