Great Service!!!

We got to the course early and were told that the course was pretty wide open, went and checked in and the gentleman at the desk said the tee is open your welcome to go. We stepped up and immediately saw a foursome heading down in front of us. We were only a twosome. Two of the four were walking and carrying their bags. A bad sign for slow play as they appeared to be older than us, we are in our fifties. I know the walk from the first green to the next tee was considerable and told my wife that we should arrive at the tee either before or just as they were teeing off. When we got to the second tee, I politely said excuse me to the gentleman who just teed off and was ignored, I said it a little louder and got his attention. I asked if it would be ok if we played through and the obnoxious guy says there are groups in front of us and you can go through but when we catch up to you, you will have to let us go through. We were going to do this and then saw his playing partner, he apparently didn't wait for his friend to hit and was walking up the fairway. We sat there and decided maybe it would be better to check 9 and if it was open we could go off the back. We were fortunate as the 9th hole was wide open and the gent in the shop said go ahead and start on the back. We met a group that was trying to find the tenth and helped them get there (nice pleasant people!!, unlike the other guy!!). We followed them and they eventually pulled away from us. We had a great round, no one in front of us till we came back around and hit the 4th hole on the front, no one ever behind us. Weather was incredible!! My wife and I each had a birdie, the course was in great shape. Best day on a course we have had recently!! Thank you!!

Beautiful Day in the Willamette Valley!

We were joined by a couple of locals that were some of the nicest guys we have ever met on a golf course. The course itself was in great shape, challenging and fun. Pace of play was slightly slow but the back nine went a bit faster and we finished in about 4.5 hrs. The course has some elevation changes and is lined by nice homes on some of the holes. Some water that doesn't really come into play and a couple of interesting holes requiring layups off the tee. The weather was spectacular, big puffy clouds and quite a bit of sun. The ranger was very nice as was one of the groundsmen working the course. Our first round of golf in the Valley and one we will not forget! The greens were also fairly quick and true.

Don't blow me down!

One of the guys working at the course told my wife when she said she hoped the sun would come out that it would not be a good thing. He was correct in many ways, the sun did come out and along with it came what seemed like a 30 mile an hour wind and a ten degree drop in temperature. Regardless of this we enjoyed our round here. The conditions were very good, the course was fun and challenging and the pace was good until the 16th hole. The 16th and 17th are walk only, you park your cart and hoof it for two holes. You return to the cart after the second or 17th hole. The 17th is a par 3 about 155 yards from the blue tees and the wind was so strong that I hit a 4 hybrid and still was just short of the green! We unfortunately ran into a group at 16 that looked like they waited for the twosome in front of us and had about a ten to fifteen minute wait before being able to tee off on all three of the last holes. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and would like to play the course again. The views are absolutely spectacular as the ocean is visible from almost every hole. The views alone are worth the price, the golf is a nice complement to your sightseeing.

Great conditions for an executive course!

Our only complaint would be the pace of play. The course is in very nice shape, tee boxes, greens and fairways all nicely maintained. We ended up as a twosome and had to wait 3-5 minutes on every tee box. Fortunately it was a beautiful day and we were enjoying the nice weather. We played the South course followed by the North course. We have played the East course on another visit and all 3 nines have a nice layout and variety of holes. The par 4's are all relatively short, the longest ones barely over 300 yards giving you some chances for birdies. The par 3's range up to 200 yards and the shortest we saw from the back tees was about 135 yards. We enjoyed our round and other than some rude players that were having a tournament and yelled at my wife to get out of their way by the clubhouse it was a great day!

tough but fun

We had an earely tee time on a very hot and humid day, the course has many tees so it is good for higher handicaps although I would not say it is good for a beginner. Good strategy is required as the layout is very challenging. The greens are very fast and a poor drive usually will result in more then a bogey. I play the blues and my wife plays the whites. We found the course to be tough but had a great time. Beautiful holes and wildlife including coyotes and a herd of bighorn sheep! We played at Indian Wells and Firecliff on this trip also and Silver Rock had the fastest greens and the hardest layout. It will become a must play on our future trips to the dessert.

One of our favorite dessert courses.

Firecliff is a challenging course that we enjoy every time we get to the dessert. It is generally in great condition and has a nice layout with many bunkers and hazards. You can score well if you keep it in the fairway but if you stray, the course can pile on strokes rapidly. Very hot and humid the day we played even with a 6:40 tee time. We moved around the course quickly and enjoyed it immensely. Very good condition, medium speed greens.

A stunning course

Incredible views and incredibly maintained, if it wasn't for the high humidity and 108 degree temps this might have been one of our best experiences in the dessert. The course was empty, literally and we played in just over 3 hours. Beautifully maintained and in great condition. The greens were a bit slow but other then that we had a great time.
