Jamestown Park Golf Course

Excellent course. Always immaculate, manicured. Have played Jamestown since the 1970's. Only critique of course is with the new bermuda greens, the greens that runaway from the golfer (slope backwards) has made it a bit unfair. All in all, an excellent facility and well managed.
Salem Glen Country Club

Like a good fishing hole you don't want to tell people about, much is the same with Salem Glen. I've played many courses in the Triad this year and 90% had huge Winter kill issues. Salem Glen is pristine. Previously I considered Tanglewood, Forest Oaks, and Gillespie as the best I have seen, but Salem Glen was just plush. I don't know how they did it but hats off to their course supertdt. There were a couple spots resodded but just a few. Greens were excellent. $24 at 2 p.m. I think humidity was like 200% 90 deg. day and there were 3 groups of kids walking in front so it made for some slowness. But what can you expect on a Summer afternoon. Otherwise this course is well, I say "well" worth the 25 mile drive from Greensboro.
Tanglewood Golf Club - Championship Course
Played On 06/02/2015TANGLEWOOD SURVIVES THE WINTER
I have played numerous courses in the Triad this Spring and only a handful have any fairways to speak of. Tanglewood, Forest Oaks, and Gillespie managed to save their bermuda fairways through either rye seeding in the winter or in Gillespie's case, not spraying their weeds (which was a stroke of genius). At least 3 other courses have lost about 35% of their fairways.

This is probably a more interesting layout than the Championship course. Alot of woods and tight fairways with unique angles. Tee boxes were in need or repair but the greens were very good. The beauty of this course is the wildlife. Deer were constantly walking across fairways all day along with Canadian Geese. If you can get on this course for $18 or less its a steal.
West at Grandover Resort
Played On 07/29/2014Excellent Course
Prime conditions. Bent grass greens in excellent shape for late July. Very challenging green designs that makes a seemingly medium challenge golf course into a true test. Concrete golf paths which is great on that L4 and L5 vertibrae. Service: bag attendants loading and unloading golf bags, cleaning clubs at end of play, complementary logo'd towels and tees. GPS'd golf carts. It's a steal for $30+ (probably $75 course) Warning: drinks start at $3 water n $4 soft, forget the beer

They are in the middle of new management, the previous declared bankruptcy a month ago. New team is Integrity Golf out of Winterhaven, Fla. My initial Golfnow reservation on May 18th was never reserved by the golf course so we were not able to play. This new management group seems dedicated though and this was formerly the site of the Wyndam PGA championship. So it is an excellent golf course. And they previously were totally private and have now become semi-private. Should mean opportunities for Golfnow bookings.
Salem Glen Country Club
Played On 8/8/2013Super course and demanding.
Only issue we had was with distance to the holes and yardage markers but the staff agreed with us that due to recent lengthening, they should have told us to ignore the concrete yardage markers on the tee boxes.
Staff was very friendly and atmosphere inviting.
I did bring up rain policy with the course and also GolfNow and was told if we get rained on its up to GolfNow to refund that the course could not give out rain checks. That is the only caveat that concerned me in that me and my partner got drenched on the 5th hole but later sun was out and we were fine.
