Very enjoyable round. Course and facilities were excellent. Ate in bar restaurant and the food was very good. Need some help with TV channels though.

Excellent course and greens. Even Scenic in parts. Tight Fairways and unforgiving scrub grass past the fairway rough. Fairly flat course but a lot of water to navigate if you aren't careful. Think 3 wood off a lot of the tee's if you can't control your drive. BYOB (THERE WAS NO CART GIRL ON COURSE EVEN THOUGH THEY TOLD US THERE WOULD BE ONE) and you do not go back to the clubhouse after 10 and there is no half way house. PLUS THE SOFT DRINK MACHINE TOOK TWO DOLLARS FROM MY PLAYING COMPANION. but that isn't all he lost..... :)

Fairways were immaculate but the greens some what damaged. Seems fixing ball marks is an option here and there was some damaged areas that looked like a fungus or disease. Driving range while large doesn't assist in working on your short iron shots.

Course and greens were in great shape. Pace of play was very good but it has been so on a few other occassions.
Sleeping Indian/Cottonwood at West Woods Golf Club
Played On 7/15/2013Good course great shape, typical muni pace of play though.
The course doesn't play that long. there are several dog legs which require you to make an accurate tee shot. the par threes were moved up so they played short. Lazer prisms on the pins helped with distances. Becareful with you GPS that you input the correct two nines in sequence or you may be confused after the turn. the greens were very nice. It's a fairly easy course to walk although there are several stretches between tee's that are longer than most courses. This is probably what contributed to the slow pace of play. Cart girls came by frequently and were friendly.
The Golf Club of Dallas
Played On 2/24/2013Not a winter course.
In its day I'm sure this was a great private course. It has a great potential but the fairways were very sparse and the lack of water was evident in the dry ponds and gullys along with the fall aeration plugs that are still on the fairways. The greens were in better shape. Shockingly the sand in the traps was very good again evidence of better days. The carts are both electric and gas. The electric cart we had barely made it in and saw 3 times when carts were being towed in. Food was good and the staff was great.
nwm418,
I noticed you are from Denver, probably not much bermuda grass in that climate. The bermuda goes dormant through the winter and loses its green color. I played yesterday and it is as flush as anywhere in the metroplex and the new management had just bought a brand new fleet of golf cars, no problems there. I recommend you try it again next time you are in town.
Hello, nwm418. Thank you for leaving us a review. We are sorry to hear your experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you will give us another try in the future. Thank you for choosing Ahwatukee Country Club.
