Mill Creek Golf Club
Played On 09/27/2015Fun course
Mill Creek is a really fun course. Fairways are in great shape and not dried out like many this time of year. They've lost quite a few trees to the Emerald Ash Borer, but there are plenty left to make the fairways tight, so staying in the fairway is important. Not a lot of water, but there is a stretch of water hazards on a par 5 that can give anyone trouble.
Darby Creek Golf Course
Played On 09/20/2015Good course, well-maintained
I've played this course several times. It's always in good shape. Weather has been dry, but the tee boxes, fairways and greens were in really good shape. Played in the middle of the day Sunday, so a couple of the part 3 tee boxes were chewed up, but that's to be expected. A couple of the bunkers were more dirt than sand, others in good shape. Ranger was informative about conditions and groups ahead and behind. I would play more frequently, but it's 45 minutes away.
The Players Club at Foxfire Golf Club
Played On 07/24/2015Players Club - good course, bad traps
Fairways were in great shape. Most greens were excellent. There were no bad greens -- none torn up or with bare spots. The sand traps were the terrible: no sand, some were down to the hardpan. Some large traps had only one rake.
Table Rock Golf Club
Played On 6/2/2013Mix of open front and really tight back makes course fun
Open front 9 lets you get loosened up for the tight, tree-lined back. Course is well-kept and fairways in good shape. Tends to get too dry in late summer and needs more irrigation.
