Twin Rivers is a nice course that deserves far better care. Tee boxes and greens are really disappointing. The city of Oviedo needs to hire a skilled golf course superintendent and give them the resources to restore this course. The UCF golf team would be embarrassed to host a college tournament there.

I played Crooked Cat for the first time on a very windy March afternoon and while the pace of play was very slow (almost 5 hours), I found the course to be in decent shape, with very hard greens that made chipping and approach shots a big challenge, but the putts rolled true. If you can get a deal on GolfNow I don’t think you will be disappointed

I flew up from Florida to visit my Dad and decided to check out Mayapple. I booked a Hot Deal and was pleasantly surprised at how wonderfully true the greens were. The recent rains from Ian made the rough tough, but the greens were excellent. Pace was acceptable, but slow since I was playing by myself (with my Dad riding in the cart to watch). Definitely worth the money!

The first time, many years ago, I played RedTail, it was in great shape and the course design memorable and impressive. Yesterday the greens were in the best shape they have been in years and I still love the course design. The weed problem in the fairways and the very rough rough will aggravate some golfers, along with the course’s challenging design. If you can shoot your handicap on this course you have had a great round of golf.

I recently played both the Hills and Jones courses and while both are in excellent condition, my preference is the Hills course.

The greens are very slow where there is grass and bumpy where the grass is dead or replaced with weeds. If you liked the course in the past it won’t disappoint you. If you expected the city of Gainesville would improve it’s condition over the two decades they have owned and managed it you will be sorely disappointed.

Today was a perfect day for playing golf and my son and I decided to play Ironwood. We played 18 holes in 2.5 hours (which was awesome) and found the course to be worth the $18.50 green fees offered by GolfNow. Sadly the weeds and the condition of the greens were disappointing, but that has always been the case at Ironweed. The sand trap that I was in on #10 had nice fluffy sand that allowed me to get up and down for a par. The turkeys were out enjoying the weather and are always fun to watch how unavailable they are, especially since this during hunter no season for turkeys.

This is a mature Florida golf course development with some challenging holes, interesting design, and some attractive homes. The back nine has some water drainage issues and the greens have some areas of concern, but generally rolled very true. I think I would play it 4-6 shots better the second time.

Red Tail is one of the finest courses you never heard of in Florida. Great layout, well maintained, friendly staff, and incredibly reasonable with the deals offered by golfnow.com
