Legend Trail Golf Club
Played On 05/18/2018Interesting but tough
The course was in good condition, but if you haven’t played it before and aren’t lucky enough to be with someone who knows the course, it can be hard. Good news is that there are several options listed on the card to make things friendlier. Mixing the tees - some longer, some shorter.
The course is challenging and left me wanting to go back and play it again - and do better. You really have to manage your game to score, but the opportunities are there.
Staff is luke warm.
Played in 4.5 + hours even though we saw a marshall every other hole, but apparently the morning guy allowed things to get off to a slooow start which carried on throughout the day.
Talking Stick Golf Club - Piipaash Course
Played On 05/14/2018Primm Valley Golf Club - Lakes Course
Played On 08/16/2016Well-maintained, fun course even in summertime
Both Primm courses are well maintained, interesting layouts that hold up well and are fun to play even in summertime. Not crowded with great practice facilities. Primm is worth the drive, which is an easy one. Living in Henderson, I enjoy playing a variety of courses and frequently drive the same amount time in city traffic to play courses that are more crowded and not as well maintained.
Boulder Creek Golf Club - Coyote Run/Eldorado Valley
Played On 05/18/2016An interesting layout...makes you work, but can be rewarding too.
Played El Dorado and Coyote nines on a gusty day. The layout combined with the winds made for some very forgiving holes, but also made me work on others. The greens were still recovering from aeration, but still putted true. Overall, a fun, interesting course.
Black Mountain Golf & Country Club - Founders/Desert Course
Played On 11/29/2015Tired & worn out...Black Mtn needs rejuvenation
Black Mountain has a layout that could be fun, but it has seen a LOT of traffic and needs some TLC to rejuvenate it.
The Fairways are very dry, hard-pack with several types of grass...some green, mostly brown. Greens were in good shape and the course's major defense. The greens are consistent, but hard to read...they make you work. Tee boxes are uneven and chewed up. They need work.
In general, the course needs water, fertilizer and TLC to make it truly worth the money or the drive to get there. Given the care, it would be a fun track to work on your game.

Canyon/Lakes at Spanish Trail Country Club
Played On 08/15/2014Enjoyed enough to go back & do better.
The staff was friendly. Course was in good shape; especially for mid-August. Greens were consistent and the course played in a "relaxed", four hours.

Olomana Golf Links
Played On 05/12/2014Scenic, but the tradewinds demand your attention.
Some gorgeous views of the Koolau Mountains, but the tradewinds will make you keep your focus on the course. It was a quiet Monday round. The course was in very good shape, but had some wet areas from heavy rain the night before.
Makaha Valley Country Club
Played On 05/05/2014Everything breaks towards the ocean.
Everything breaks towards the ocean. Putting raises the difficulty level ALOT. But it's a beautiful course with great views.
The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie - The Links
Played On 04/28/2014Poor drainage, makes the course a lot more difficult.
Made the mistake of playing the day after a couple of very rainy days. The result was very spongy areas, esp. fronting many greens, a lot of casual water on fairways, and very little ball roll/run. Putting is always hard there, but compounded by the wet conditions.
Otherwise, the course is well maintained.
Plan on returning when the course has been dry for a few days.
Whispering Firs Golf Club
Played On 10/28/2013Long with a lot of trees. It can be a challenge,
Play it during the summer.
Played it on a cold, windy, fall day which made a challenging course even more difficult. Greens were buried in leaves & pine needles. Rough was LONG. Shots wandered in the wind. Survival golf. Yardage lost to the cold made long holes play longer.
I want to go back during the summer...it'll be an entirely different experience and still challenging.
Capitol City Golf Club
Played On 10/25/2013Well maintained, older course. It looks easy, but will make you work to score.
An older-style course. It is well maintained - tee to greens and it has a lot of mature trees that will make you work if you stray from the wide fairways. Almost no water, but OB alongside most of the holes.
The staff is friendly, adequate driving range plus practice area and a nice restaurant/lounge for afterwards.
The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie - The Woodlands
Played On 10/23/2013Still challenging, but construction on & around the course has affected the maintenance.
The course used to be very well maintained and played thru a very scenic wooded area. But now housing development construction borders most of the holes that before felt like wooded area. It's on its way to becoming - "just another course surrounded by homes."
Signs of neglect are evident throughout the course, and not all can be attributed to the construction. I played in the fall, and granted, a wet time of the year; but much of the neglect is due to heavy cart traffic around tees/greens and not just thru muddy areas. But there were a lot of casual water and very spongy, soggy areas as well. The greens were in good condition and pace of play was very steady = 4 hours.
Las Vegas National Golf Course
Played On 4/18/2013Over-valued...compared to others in area & depending on rate paid.
A nice, old-style course with a decent, practice area. I went early hoping to practice some and warm up. Staff insisted on putting me out earlier than my scheduled time. Otherwise, the course was a 3/5 for maintenance and difficulty, but the value received would depend upon rate paid. I had a good rate that was a lot lower than they try to charge as their "regular rate"...which is too high, especially compared to comparable courses in the area.
Hi CAMatthew1,
Thank you for choosing Primm Valley. It's great to hear that we are worth the drive from Henderson and that you enjoyed your round. We hope you make the drive to see us again soon!
