Bear's Best Las Vegas
Played On 02/24/2020Great course lay out enjoyable to play as always
The course design is as good as always. What surprised me was the fairway, tee decks and the greens are so lush and soft. Course is in immaculate shape. Being a Canadian coming to Vegas, this was very enjoyable.
However, like many other courses, there were no Marshal around the course, luckily, we didn't need one.
The weather was perfect for me between 17 to 19 Celsius. The only unfortunate part was it became windy shortly after the 5th hole or so, Otherwise, all was perfect. I teed off at 12.48 with another 3 guys and finished early enough before the sun set.
We had a great time. We might be a touch slow according to the GPS screen by 5-6 minutes, but the other group behind us was only behind our back for a few holes.
All in all it was always fun to play here whenever I came.
Only comment is that the course had better service and amenities back when it had caddies years ago.
To Golfnow, my only complaint is that the other single who rode with me paid $20 less than I did.
Ballantrae Golf Club
Played On 06/26/2018Good course for all levels
Played this with my brother and son, the latter is a fairly new golfer.
But the course is fairly forgiving and he enjoyed it.
Unlike some other courses, there are not many blind shots holes. With water in play and nests in a gated community, we don 't find the houses cramped together and we enjoyed the setting and a great family time together.
The weather was nice around 22°C.
We finished in 3.45hrs. Very good pace.
Will go again.
Rolling Hills Golf Club - Challenge
Played On 09/10/2017Busy but good for beginners
It was another busy sunday afternoon. Several tee decks are back to back. The group in front was real slow but won't let us pass. Groups behind ended up skipping a coupon of holes.
Fairly open and forgiving. Also close to town. Bunkers are rock solid. We played twilight and ended up not finishing. Pace really slow. But for the money, no complains.
Club at Bond Head - South
Played On 07/24/2017What happened to a nice course
Being a former Clublink member, I played this course many many times over the years.
This course was in much better shape 10 years ago, especially prior to turning semi private.
I dare to say, Clublink has not been taking care of the course.
Many of the landscape with long grass protecting the green has been cut down.
Bunkers with so much weeds and looked unattended for a long time especially with the rain this year, sand has been washed away.
The whole issue was we booked this course at around 1.15 pm on a monday thru Golfnow, for a 3.00 pm tee time. When we arrived, there were many groups waiting at the tee. We were right on time, but was force to drive up to the green to meet up with a 2 some pitching onto the green, missed playing that hole.
Why would they sold us that tee time almost last min. when they were already so busy?
Then the 4 some in front was playing from the back tee and at least 2 guys could not even hit pass the rough or the hazard. This not only delayed the pace, it was no fun to watch and wait for every single hole. But there were never any marshal around to help.
Other than that it was a nice round of golf on a cool summer day.
Legends on the Niagara Golf Course - Ussher's Creek
Played On 06/13/2017ended up playing Battlefield instead
Ended up playing Battlefield.
Being a single, and the 2 some in front was real slow, taking them 5-6 shots before getting close to the green, then 3-4 putts each hole,
So I passed them when they were looking for lost balls on the 4th hole, and they continued looking for others.
It was not until the 15th hole before I run into a 4some.
But I did enjoy myself and had a great time.
Will play here again next time when in the area.
One more thing, the fairways are wide and forgiving. Most bunkers are not really in play so
if you play conservative, your score should eb decent.
I had 7 pars.
Being a single, I could leisurely play and take photos.
It was fairly quiet at that time of the day.
Beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing! We hope you are able to visit us again this summer.
Royal Niagara Golf Club - Escarpment Course
Played On 06/01/2017Nice cool but windy spring day
Advised and arrived 20 mins late as a single.
The gentleman greeted me with no smile and put me with another single, which turned out to be a great companion local. But we were put in between some kind of league playing their regular.
There are 3 nines, don't understand why we had to play at the same nines.
I haven't played this for a couple of years coming from Toronto. The course is in pretty good condition.
Overall, other than the wind, it was fun.
Thanks. We will work on the smiles and be smarter about starting you!
Bear's Best Las Vegas
Played On 05/14/2017Jewels of Vegas
Played this last time with caddy years ago, Mike.
Very friendly and professional person. At the time, one couldn't play as a single, so he caddied for me and also played with me, shooting 69! (MIKE)
He was amazing, helping me with reading the lines with great putting accuracy.
This time, I was single again, playing twilight after some tournament on mom's day. It seemed that I owned the course, no wait, no one behind. That's why I could take those photos.
There were way more rabbits on the course than golfers.
Only 2 comments.........
1. The upkeep of the cart path and some hard landscaping are lacking. Some areas looked like after a minor earth quake with uplifted concrete.
2. It was very windy that day.
Otherwise, would have been a perfect day.
Mind you, I had 1 birdie and a couple of pars.
Being Canadian, just came out of winter, not bad for my standard.
Might play again before leaving Vegas..
Shared on twitter @golfadvisor, thanks for the review & pics!
Oak Bay Golf Course
Played On 06/01/2016picturistic right by the waters
Nice weather, mild breeze and not too many golfers on this mid week, weds. play.
Booked thru Golfnow with no hassle. Took us 1.5 hrs from north Toronto with light traffic. This is probably the closest and nicest course near Muskoka, especially the back 9, including hole 10, 16, 17 and 18. Make sure you bring extra balls as the fairways are fairly narrow and if you ball bounces to the right or left, you will probably loose it. Bring you camera especially if you come end of May to early June. There will be several spots that are picture perfect. We run into the baby fox at hole 17, a par 3 looking for food. The new club house is still under construction and when ready, would be a great place for a beer or food after the game overlooking the lake.
Sunstone Golf Club
Played On 04/29/2015For the value of my money
Booked it on the day of play within the hour as we are vacationing in Whistler for a few days. Weather was cloudy most of the time as it is spring. Scenery was awesome, playing at the foot of the mountain with ice caps. Mild weather for me as I am from Ontario. It snowed the day I left home. Course was quiet as I played after 2,30 pm solo. I had a few good shots as it is early season for me. My putting for good with 8 1 putt. If the course would fix up some of the fringe areas with better paved cart path and with proper signs indicating the next holes would make this perfect. It was too bad that the course closed by at 6.00pm before I was done. U couldn't try their food or browse at the golf shop. Maybe next time.
One issue, if I had not taken a picture of the booking to show upon check in, I won't have my cart as it was included in my booking, but not at theirs.
Grande Pines Golf Club
Played On 09/14/2014Great course.....play while you still can.
Nice and sunny, but humid.
The resort in the background is Marriott Cypress Harbour.

This course happens to be right attached to the resort we are staying. Took the late afternoon time to play a quite round. Just managed to finish before dark even starting at 4.00pm in mid. Sept.
Rolling Meadows Golf and Country Club
Played On 10/12/2012The front nine is a bit boring while the back has a few interesting holes.
If the course has more terrain with ups and downs and not as flat as it is would be a more pleasant experience.
It was a cold Oct day and the temperature was under 8C and we finished when it dropped to below 5C. But the course was basically vacant and we played very leisurely enjoying the fall foliage. But they don't clear any leaves making locating your shots in the rough next to impossible.
Horseshoe Resort - Highlands
Played On 9/13/2012Nice setting for most holes
It would have been nicer if they don't change the original 1st hole to being the 10th and from a par 4 to par 3.
To play the course you need to meander thru several residential streets basically thru a tour of the neighborhood.
But the area is still an enjoyable course to play away from the city.
Awesome! We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. We're sorry to hear that you weren't completely satisfied with your GolfNow rate. If you wish to discuss this with their support team, please reach out to them at 800.767.3574.
