Lone Oak Golf Course was in great shape. The greens were moderately fast, the fairways grass is beginning to thicken to it's summer standards, and the rough was mowed low enough so that balls on errant shots could be located. Friendly staff, and friendly members.

I’ve heard a lot about this golf course from family and friends. The layout is excellent but I was disappointed with course conditions, level of staffing, and the condition of the range balls on the driving range. The course maintenance was lacking, there was no starter on the first tee, and the range balls were dirty with at least 20% having cuts on them. We had tee time reserved but it appeared people were just teeing off on the first hole whenever they pleased. For the rates charged ther are many nicer, better managed courses close by, in Lexington, Paris, and Nicholasville. Tee times matter at well managed courses.

I consider this my home course, even though I live in a neighboring town. It's relatively easy, with limited water and manageable rough. There is out of bounds around the perimeter, but on most holds you can play down an adjacent fairway with little problems if your tee shot id off line. Currently the greens are under repair, being aerated, and putting is total guess work, but they are improving with time.
