Chehalem Glenn Golf Club
Played On 11/05/2022Pace of Play Brutal
The organization seems to continue to ignore this and it’s going to come back and bite them: the pace of Play is horrendous. You tee it up here hoping you can get out within 4 1/2 hours but knowing it will most likely be 5 1/2. Not worth it. Which is a shame because the layout is awesome and with a couple grounds improvements paired with better place of Play this would be the best value in the area. But as it sits I’d rather go to Forest Hills, McNary, or even pay the higher prices as Langdon or OGA.

This course has such a great layout, but has reached a point where it is unplayable.

Is describe this course as a “members first” course, meaning even though it’s a public course, the members dominate the course and ownership has seemed to have designed it that way.
Pace of Play was slow because there was the men’s league in front of me. Not a huge deal, I get it. The course isn’t going to tell their members to speed up. My round was 4 hours 40 minutes, but the course is so short/compact it felt a lot longer.
I started solo but after one hole was caught by two members. They told me that the members there book all the morning tee times at least a week in advance, so basically everyday the pace of play is slow because the men’s and women’s leagues, combined with regular members, book all the tee times.
There’s no “rules” out on the course, so eventually two more members caught up with us and my solo outing turned into a group of 5. Not a huge deal because pace of play was so slow, but the two “new” folks weren’t considerate of my golf. Twice I was chipping into the green and one of them was standing on the green directly on my line, and didn’t move til they had finished their putt.
I get it that the course has seemed to gear more towards the members, as the members I golfed with said they could basically do whatever they wanted on the course. That’s a decision each course can make and I’m not arguing with that decision.
But I don’t suggest booking a tee time there if you aren’t a member.

I don’t know which part was the worst, so I’ll start from the beginning of my day:
1) There’s a weird vibe from the staff I interacted with. Their body language and word choice made me feel like I was at a private country club in which no one was glad I was there. You could say they had a very “bro” attitude.
2) Got range balls, and I’d been to the range once before, and the set up is nice, but gets ruined when you look out into the range and it looks like an old swamp that no one has touched in years. It was gross.
3) Upon starting, I asked the Starter there any tips. He told me the course is impossibly hard and I should be happy to break 90. No tips, just that. I’m a 6 handicap, so while he wasn’t too accurate, the “we are better than you and everyone else” vibe I picked up on the clubhouse carried out onto the course.
4) The course has a neat layout, but that is the only positive of the entire place. The actual ground of almost the entire course is a complete waste of my money and time. I get wet courses in December and January, but in April there shouldn’t be any major problems on fairways/within 10 feet of fairways. I admit my white shoes prevent a clean problem, but I left the course with mud caked on my shoes and while never going more than 10 feet off a fairway.
Also, there’s many holes where “the fairway” is not much different than the rough. It showed an extremely poor effort on the course staff to create actual fairways. There should never be a yellow or white flower aka a weed on a fairway, let alone at least 20+ throughout the course.
All in all, spend your money elsewhere. Almost anywhere.
The Reserve Vineyards & Golf Club - North Course
Played On 03/23/2020Awesome Course
One of the better courses in all of the NW. I only get to play a couple times a year and has always been the North Course, but always enjoy it. When you really stare into some of the spots on the course, it looks better than it is, but 90% of it is very well kept.
Chehalem Glenn Golf Club
Played On 03/10/2020Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Great course layout. Very fun to play.
- Fairways are decent enough to play a nice round. Greens are mostly solid.
- Not a grip it and rip it course.
Cons:
-Pace of play is absolutely awful. We had 3 different groups on the tee box of a Par 3, waiting for the group on the green. We called the clubhouse and the marshall's response? "Nothing I can do."
- Plenty of mud areas on the course during the winter/spring months. Wear shoes that you don't care about sinking into an inch of mud in some spots.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give Chehalem Glenn Golf Club another try in the near future.
Oak Knoll Golf Course & Driving Range
Played On 03/09/2020Don't waste your money
This course has obviously not been given an ounce of attention in not just months, but years. I heard there were new owners so I was hoping they would revive the course, but it seems like it has actually become worse. I don't imagine any situation where this would be worth spending the money. If it was $5, then maybe.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback as we will use your review to better the experience going forward. We hope you give us another try in the near future!
