Streamsong Resort - Black Course
Played On 02/11/2018Black Attack or rather Greens Attack
Really wide open fairways which offset the really large and difficult greens. It really makes for some interesting and fun putts. The options around the greens are almost limitless. Bump & Run with mid-irons, long-irons, hybrids. Chip & flop shots with wedges. Putts from almost 10 yards off the green. All are options and required for this place. Making it for a full arsenal of shots in 18 holes. You will have a great time here. A must play.

Great layout that is extremely challenging. Water is coming into play on almost every hole. It will test your game from all aspects. Staff and member were very nice and easy going. Was not tense or stiff in there at all.
Heritage Ridge Golf Club

Not a very long course for longer hitters. Greens were in excellent condition. In an area where the public golf is slim pickings this is a decent track to get some golf in.
North Palm Beach Country Club

Not your typical Florida muni course. Adjacent housing only pops up on maybe 25% of the holes, and a three hole stretch (holes 5-7) line the inter-coastal. Nothing reminding you more that you are in Florida than the boats waiting right next to the tee box on hole 5 while the draw bridge to cross US HWY 1 opens up. Aside from the surrounding scenery the green complexes on this course are something out of the ordinary. Most are elevated and feature a lot of different ridges and breaks in the greens. Took a while for me to get used to the fact that in S. Florida most putts play pretty straight no matter how sever the break looks, but at N. Palm beach CC they break and they break a lot. Something strange that I noticed before I even teed off was the set of tee boxes offered. The back tees played just over 7k yards at 7079. The next set up played at just over 6300 yards. Although I was able to manage the back tees I thought that was a much too large gap. I think there are a large amount of players that fit somewhere right in the middle of those two yardages at around 6600 yards. Which then allows the player of that skill set and distance to play the course the way the architect meant for it to be played. At the very least a combo of the two tees can easily be offered on the scorecard. Final thought is this is a really great muni course available in an area where public golf is not the standard. To be able to jump on a Jack re-design for a relatively reasonable price (depending on time of year) is something worth playing when in the area.
Osprey Point Golf Club - Hawk/Raven Course
Played On 12/30/2017Solid track
Normally playing a course in South Florida without houses lining the fairways would be a breathe of fresh air or rather a breathe of fresh silence. Unfortunately for Osprey in an effort to squeeze 27 holes onto a piece of property means various greens being situated close to tee boxes. More than once was I interrupted in my backswing by another group on a different set of 9 holes. The feature shaping of the course was done very well in effort to hide adjacent holes from one another because there are so tight. The surrounding environment and habitat is very noticeable as you make your way around, and reminds you constantly that the animals were here first and this is their home. Another unique characteristic was that almost every par 4 was a dogleg right; which is great for beginners and amateurs alike who tend to slice the ball, but takes away from the variety one might expect.
