Towne Lake Hills Golf Club
Played On 11/17/2019An Arthur Hills Hidden Gem
This course is a somewhat hidden gem designed by Arthur Hills. It plays somewhat longer than the scorecard reads. It has a few blind shots and hidden hazards so the use of a GPS system is great advise. The starter suggestion of using the free YAMATRACK app was great advise.
We played on a beautiful fall Sunday in the late morning. The pace of play was a little bit slower than I would have liked, but it gave a chance to look at the beautiful fall colors. The course was in great shape with the bent greens running very true.
The staff were all friendly and extremely helpful. the cart girl was very friendly and a pleasure to see coming. I truly was a pleasant experience, and I would recommend the course to all.

Played On 11/26/2015Great Turkeyday Treat
I neecan't think it ded somewhere to play Thanksgiving morning and found the Gobblefest for $30 all inclusive. I was paired with three fun gentlemen and had a great time. The course was in great condition except the bunkers could have used more sand. Greens ran true and the pace of play was great. We finished in about 3 1/2 hours with a shotgun start. Loved the course and people.
Hammock Beach Resort - The Conservatory Course
Played On 11/24/2015Lots of bunkers, but where is the sand?
I was told I was lucky that there was an opening for a single and was paired up with another single and a couple. Other than a twosome behind us, we saw no other golfers all day. So much for the 'lucky' part of the tee time.
The course is tough, and made tougher by the windy conditions. It was said there are over 170 bunkers on the course, and I did find my fair share of them. In most of the ones I found, there was little or no sand. It is extremely hard to hit over the raised lips Tom Watson is known for when you are hitting off glorified hardpan. for the $125 I paid in green fees, I felt the course should have been in MUCH better condition.

Played On 03/14/2014When the best part of the round is the cart girl...
We played on a Friday afternoon. I did not know that we were following a tournament. I booked a Hot Deal and saved $16 per player. That cost was offset by the slow play of the tournament players who seemed to go an extra few holes.
The greens were very inconsistent as there were many places with burned areas and subsequent bumpiness. The fairways were just OK, with the tee boxes also having some grass issues. I was later told by the cart attendant that the course was in the process of being taken over and all but basic maintenance had stopped.
The bar staff was somewhat rude, and was not willing to give me a second cup of water/ice for my playing partner. The only bright spot of the day was Shannon, the on-course beverage server. She was exceptionally friendly and went out of her way to make sure we were served well by her. She was the high spot of the day for us.
I would go back as I had played it before when it was in much better condition. I would confirm that the course status was settled and that the course is in better shape.

Played On 05/27/2013Great value for a great public course
The weather was iffy but the GolfNow price was great. We have played this course before and have always liked it. The staff was great, especially in the snack bar during a rain delay. We look forward to returning soon.
