Ok Course but better values are out there.

Positives:
-Located in Pinellas County
-Greens were good
-Pace of Play was great. Even on Sunday, no waiting.
-Rough is brutal with tight fairways
-Carts were brand new and all-electric
-The view on the last two holes is beautiful.

Negatives:
-This is a 50-year old course and feels it. Trees have been allowed to overtake the course. It is in serious need of trimming back to make it playable.
-It’s a very tight course wedged in amongst several condo buildings. Not particularly scenic.
-Maintenance is minimal. Tee boxes are chewed up, weeds everywhere including fairways and greens.
-It was Sunday and several fairways were not mowed. That’s unacceptable.

Conclusion:
The course is ok but not great. Feels old. Seems a little overpriced.

Challenging in multiple ways

As the red-headed step-child to the resort’s Links Course, the Harbor Course is still a good challenge. It’s a very tight course with water/OB on nearly every hole. The greens are very, very small. And the winds can be brutal really affecting the ability to keep the ball in play. The course was in great shape and my playing partner made a hole-in-one on #13! That’s not something that happens every day.
The price is average for its quality and relative to nearby courses. But the most confounding part is the course layout and routing. To call it unique is an understatement. The course is squeezed between homes, The distance between 4 & 5 is at least a half a mile thru neighborhoods and across multiple streets. And the turn at 9 is no turn at all but at least two miles from the clubhouse.
Yet when you get past the crazy routing the Harbor Course is a good course worth playing with some memorable holes. The staff is friendly and they work to provide a good experience.

Great Course. Excellent Value

Course is in immaculate shape from tee to green and everything in between. The layout is strong with lots of elevation changes and a few dramatic elevated tee boxes, particularly on #18 where you enjoy the sweeping vista of the surrounding hills in all directions.
Greens are in fantastic shape though run slow. Staff was friendly and they do a good job announcing over the PA system who should be on the first tee.
The big negative was pace of play, particularly for a Monday. We had to wait on every tee box for the entire 18 holes including #1.
On the Par 3 #7, there were four, yes four, groups on the same hole - one on the green and three on the tee. We waited more than 15 minutes to tee off. A ranger was present but don't think he could do much when they loaded up the course on him.
Loved the course and will play it again and wish they would address pace of play for what is a great round of golf.

Overvalued due to bad condition

The Arnold Palmer Signature course layout is perhaps the best in the Charleston Area. It is beautifully laid out among the marshes. The course plays much tighter than it looks. When the course is dry and the grass is cut short balls run and can easily run off into the marsh. It's a challenging round of golf.

The Back 9 beginning with #9 is dramatically more difficult and long compared to the first eight holes. The change in difficultly is very noticeable.

As to course conditions, something not good is going on there this year. Many (too many) holes are cart path only due to bad conditions. Bare spots are everywhere and the beautiful layout looks tired due to very poor maintenance. You really notice the cutting corners on the edges of the course.
On the positive, the greens run true and are very quick.

For the price due to the poor quality the course is presently overpriced.

Remarkable Course

What is not to love on this refreshing take of what a golf course should be? The layout is truly one of a kind with no out of bounds, red or yellow stakes. Everything is in play all the time. You can drive your cart right into the bunkers, ground your club and take practice swings and you leave it all as-is. There are no rakes.

The course is visually overwhelming but if you relax you will find the course plays easier than it looks. It is not an easy course and you have to think through every shot but you can post a score comparable to your handicap if you play it smart. A yardage book and/or their phone app is a must. The overactive visuals of the course and elevation changes make accurately judging distances and forced carries nearly impossible without an aid.

Play this course. Everything about it is a delightful take on golf course architecture at its best.
