The fun begins when you get to the green!

This is the best 9 hole course in Florida! Not very long and plenty of birdies await ya, if you are on the correct side of the hole, do NOT short side yourself.
Staff is great, Pro shop is well-stocked and the atmosphere is 2nd to none. Could use a bar and snacks for the helmet required bomb shelter patio though. They are going to have to address a few of the tee boxes to avoid grass disappearing, i.e., #2 as it is hard to grow grass in a garage. The greens are always in good shape and the pace of play was perfect.
I still think #7 is the hardest 175-180 yards in golf!
Can't wait to play it again.

Nice Folks . . . but course?

As a single digit and someone who appreciates nice greens as previously advertised, I was more disappointed then anything else. Firstly, the range had some grass, but not anything resembling thick grass. The balls were so old, dirty and badly used that I only hit half of them. Don't they wash them after a pick?
The wagons of sand on the range were some what amusing to me.

I really liked the starter Dale. Nice as heck and offered me a chance to play with the Old Men Golf League he is a part of. I have to admit I would play just cause of Dale's approach. The pace of play was excellent for a Sunday AM tee time and the regulars in front of me moved along fast.
But back to the course. The layout is fairly good, have to confess on the 2nd tee I had no idea it was a dogleg right up the hill. I looked straight out at the 9th green and said that looks right until I saw the group in front of me leaving the 2nd green when I got to the 2nd shot. There are no hole markers on the tee boxes and I can't remember seeing the course layout on the scorecard, which would have helped.
The front 9 has some good holes, including 7 and 8 which had risk/reward on each hole.
The back 9 was a little disappointing, and the condition was below average. I do like the tee shot on several holes, but there is just poor grass in the fairways. The 2 Par 3's were longer 1 shot holes from the blue tees so it was two challenging tee balls and they were nice looking shots on the tee box. The problem with Deltona is it is just NOT well-conditioned whether your in the fairway or when you miss your approach shot you are sitting somewhere between a moon landing area or mortar bombed war field and that's not even taking the unraked bunkers/waste areas into consideration.
Finally, the greens were green and in healthy shape, but really spongy and NOT FAST at all. I had read all these reviews how they were great greens, but not on this day. They are punching them tomorrow, so maybe it was just bad timing.
Overall, I would like to play it again, probably for less than $50.00 (which included a bucket of dirty vintage Nike range balls). One note, the outside ops guy brought my cart to the parking lot as I arrived. Love to see that kind of service. Maybe he wished he could have been washing his dirty balls instead, (no pun intended).
Good Luck with the aerification Deltona.

Fun and well conditioned layout

Played the Hills course the day before the FSGA 2 day event and was not disappointed. The course is a very good layout, the practice area is great and the staff was friendly. The only negative which was addressed by an on course marshal was the 2 women in front of our 3-some were in a practice round for the event and did not seem to care that groups were behind them. The Marshal did address it and we played in approx. 4 hours. I really like the design and hole #8 was a fun Par 5. The greens were smallish and put an emphasis on good iron play. Greens did not break as much as much as I was playing during the Front 9. The back 9 was fun, but I was underwhelmed with #18 as a finishing hole. Keep up the great work at the facility and I'll be back.

Dirt Dry and not Fun!

Called ahead of time to ask about conditions and was told that there had been dormant grass in fairways, but greens were fast and good. I understood some challenges, but the first tee and many others were SAD! And the fast greens are that way, because there is no grass on them. They are bumpy too. Maybe nobody repairs the ball marks or they can't cut them regularly or BOTH.
Wait until you try and stick your tee in the ground on the brown out 10th tee.
And let's not forget the famous Sean Foley Performance Center Driving range that I had to pay $6.00 for a small bucket to hit off old uneven mats and there was NO GRASS if you wanted to hit balls off, ( unless you are a member and knew of the back range half way down the 10th fairway where there was grass and lots of balls!). I can't believe his name is associated with a facility that is hurting this bad. Which is another question, the range was packed with juniors and others hitting off mats as well, where is the money going to, just Sean?
At all points of engagement, the staff was friendly and mask less! Just pointing it out for those who might be concerned. There was no Ranger or any staff member ever on the course, and one of the twosomes out there on a very slow day was able to hold up the entire course.
The other irony was I did see several grounds ops guys driving around doing things? and on the 18th hole right side of the fairway on a higher mound was a No Carts sign with a wet spot area roped off.

I do not know who owns the course or club, but if they could invest some $$ into the range and course and then charge $50-$75, like a Southern Dunes does, it would be a fun track to play as they do have some very good holes out there. I liked #2, #5, #15, #16. BTW, there is very little sand in the bunkers, i.e., #6.

Nice track

Very friendly and helpful staff.
Layout is good, and condition was ok after heavy rains in past week. Greens rolled very nicely! Too many unrepaired ball marks on greens. Pace of play was great on front 9 , but horrifc on back 9. Would like to play again.

Great course, great value and great staff!

Had an opportunity to play Red Rock in August and the condition of the greens and tee boxes and fairways were excellent, bunkers were inconsistent, but playable.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
As a single digit I recommend playing the mixed set of tees for a fair challenge.
My only suggestion is that they provide a little better markings of tee boxes and a way to share the hole layout better especially from back tees on #2 and #6 as they are confusing, (mostly #2). I might also recommend having a yardage book(for first timers) with a description of places to favor off the blind tee shot holes including #9.
The approach shots are right in front of you in most cases, but still challenging with the size of the greens.
Don't go long or left on #10.
